Lanching wow

Hey all was just wondering if there is a diffrence to opening wow with launcher or wow.exe?

Back in the day when i used glider using launcher wasnt safe i think.. something with warden.. but wow.exe was safer.

Is this still the case?

Nope.
But reason for using launcher is to make sure you'll have the newest version.. and as blizz says: you can get some very bad errors in wow by opening it without launcher (had quite a few, cause i had to bypass launcher at one point)
