Keeps targeting mob on AVOID list!?!?!?

Sadly, the AvoidMobs tag is substantially mis-named. Honorbuddy doesn't actually avoid the mobs listed. Instead, it prevents the identified mobs from showing up on Honorbuddy's "Targets"; and consequently, Honorbuddy will never be the initial aggressor toward these mobs. Honorbuddy will defend itself if attacked by one of the mobs on the AvoidMobs list.

Does this mean I have to take the mob off my avoid list if I want to avoid it???? HB will attack avoid list to defend itself?!?!?!!? that's the stupidest thing ive ever heard! if you put something on AVOID, then you would want HB to run away from it. not attack it.

UPDATE 12/23/2010

SO why does it keep targeting the raging ancient?!?! I did it right, I put it in the subprofile area, outside of the grind area. still doesn't work.

that one works fine (and I didnt make it) so it DOES

should I point you to the wiki - or should I just stop trying to help you. HAVE YOU TRIED IT IN YOUR PROFILE???

Ok heres another error.

It just stands in front of the mob, facing the other way, and lets the mob keep attacking it, and wont face the mob to attack it, wtf?!?!?!?!

btw I am using a feral druid, using default CC (fpsware). These errors are keeping me from botting AT ALL really.

Right - so I assume that the whole put it outside of the grindarea tag fixed your avoid problem (here's a tip for you - if you ask for help on a problem, and someone provides that help, at least try it before you lip off about how it DOES like a 12 year old.)

seeing as how you are displaying a limited aptitude, I'll ask the obvious question first, is it downloading meshes? If not, post a log.

sometimes you have to read our wiki people
we are here to help you but you have to read in order to understand the very basics on how Gb/Hb works

First of all I would like to thank everyone so far for their extremely valuable time and answers (which sadly didn't help me at all, its no wonder, I didnt get one straight answer.)

Ok so after reading through the wiki and seeing nothing wrong, I am still trying to figure out how this:

Code:
<SubProfile>
     <Name>01-03 Durotar</Name>
     <MinLevel>1</MinLevel>
     <MaxLevel>3</MaxLevel>
     <GrindArea>

       <MaxDistance>75</MaxDistance>
       <AvoidMobs>
         <Mob Name="Training Dummy" Entry="44820" />
       </AvoidMobs>
       <Hotspots>
         <Hotspot x="-491.86" y="-4330.94" z="38.24" />
         <Hotspot X="-478.7338" Y="-4276.813" Z="42.8936" />
       </Hotspots>
     </GrindArea>

is any different from this:

Code:
<SubProfile>
     <Name>13-15 Northern Barrens</Name>
     <MinLevel>13</MinLevel>
     <MaxLevel>15</MaxLevel>
     <GrindArea>

         <Hotspot x="160.8" y="-2859.37" z="94.34" />
         <Hotspot x="149.21" y="-2743.49" z="93.25" />
         <Hotspot x="188.77" y="-2640.42" z="91.69" />
         <Hotspot x="91.01" y="-2604.32" z="93.53" />
         <Hotspot x="2.96" y="-2671.65" z="91.74" />
         <Hotspot x="-16.73" y="-2784.63" z="94.77" />
         <Hotspot x="19.06" y="-2889.71" z="92.01" />
       </Hotspots>
     </GrindArea>

HB doesn't attack the training dummies, so why does it keep attacking the barrens vulture?

Sorry I didnt read the second half of your post (after the whole 12 year old part) until now.

I already potsed a log for you in the first post. here it is again

LOG:

New pull target Barrens Vulture (12), resetting pull timer.
Moving closer to Barrens Vulture
Bad pull target blacklisting and finding another target.

For some reason it isn;t "blacklisting" it either, as when it comes around to the mob, it targets it again, and again. In the time it is "Moving closer to Barrens Vulture" it just keeps following it around, running into aggro and then usually dies, however sometimes it will only aggro one or two mobs and live through it.

Lukem5,

As you were previously advised, move the avoidmobs tag out of the grindarea tags. Although it may work the way you have it under certain circumstances, HB is not designed to read the avoid tags inside the grindarea tags. And the wiki shows the proper way to insert avoidmob tags as:

<TargetElites>False</TargetElites>
<AvoidMobs>
<Mob Name="Blackwind Warp Chaser" Entry="23219" />
</AvoidMobs>

If your target radius is greater than your blacklisted area, it's possible for the bot to pull mobs inside the blackspot-ted area. Your blackspot needs to be extended,"the pull radius" past the area you want to blackspot. If you are standing at the edge of the blackspot, and a mob is within your pull range, it will target it.

thanks so much for your help botanist, I looked through the wiki and missed that part. I was assuming it DID work because it had worked earlier the way it was written, you've answered all my question 200%, thanks!!!! ( I wish someone would have just said "avoid mobs goes outside grind area tags" instead of having to drag this on for two pages)

And a question on the blackspots, what if a mob, like a barrens vulture, or a harpy in the air, flies a LARGE path of travel, then would I have to make a GIANT blackspot for the entire area it covers?

Thanks again.

I direct you to the second post in this thread (from me), which says:
Pretty sure avoid mobs should be outside the GrindArea tag

What more did you need?

Further, posting a log is not cutting and pasting a few lines out of the log window in HB, it is ATTACHING the log file from your HB\Logs folder. A couple of lines doesn't contain all the information required for some problems.

Thanks for your help man, I think your replies in this thread made the muscles in your picture get bigger.
