Keeping HB running, but not actively using (experiment).

I've been thinking about holding a little experiment.

Keep HB on, active and attached to wow. But not actually let it do anything (like a pauzed CR).

Was wondering if anyone has done something like this already. I'm curious to know if I will get banned (got a burned account I can sacrifice if needed). Would clear up wether Blizzard does server or client side detection.

When I was using HB and got my 6month ban I often stopped the bot, though still attached, and did everything manually. I used the bot for some of the difficult quest or just when I needed a break from manually leveling. I'm going to guess as long as it is hooked into WoW, you will risk a ban. Of course just a guess. If you want more details just let me know.

I was the same like you. I used the bot mainly for leveling alts and sometimes boring chores like Garrison (not even daily). I did the rest by hand. PvP, LFR (since I don't have the time to actively raid). I did it all by hand. I just turn on a CR sometimes when I was in LFR and my child started to cry in bed and I had to go AFK or something. I was more playing manually then actual botting.

i maybe dont get your question, what do you mean with there would be a banned sign on it? friend of mine wasnt playing wow for months but received an email like most of us did. he used the bot only for cr in raids and a garrisonbot.

i just wanted to say that they were scanning your pc for months, they just waited for the 13th may to ban all or they were just pissed because they lost that lawsuit and then banned us

Quick update: put in about 50 hours of manual play time with HB attached. No ban yet. Will keep you posted in another 50 hrs or so.

We kind of figured they were detecting hb even if it was just attached. They may not be able to actually see what the bot is doing, only that it is attached to wow.

Zero pics, not even of the alleged ban email. We only have his word that he just attached, never used the bot.

Nevertheless, since nobody's going to video and upload 50+ hours or whatever amount he played before getting banned, and nobody's going to watch all of it, it's pretty much a worthless experiment, as nobody can prove anything.

On the other hand, if you were never banned before then that means Blizz can definitely detect HB, which would mean everyone using HB is detected - which isn't the case since some people haven't been banned.

I find it amusing that you consider Blizzard would neccesarily ban everyone they detected. Are they compelled to?

I guess we can agree an overwhelming majority got banned not so long ago. And I don't really think they had just 1 proof of every botter; they made a number of passes, and when X account is found on 2 or more, it could have gotten flagged for ban.

Your reasoning behind some people not being banned is "Hb is not detected", without really knowing how the detection process works. That's assuming a lot, really.

Beyond that, why some people (maybe not you) consider false reports any ban report, like this or that, yet they consider all "I'm not banned" reports true, even when being quite a minority?

When I read some of these reports , "I haven't been banned and I've been botting since glider", and somehow that same user starts acknowledging a couple posts later they didn't have an active suscription since January.....

I have been banned in the past. However this ran on a separate blizzard account and a separate computer. I have a dynamic IP here, so there is no IP link.
