Just got whispered and reported.

Hello,

I was NOT botting while I was on my character somewhere in Kalimdor to farm a certain transmog item, while I got whispered by a level 1 Rogue. He whispered me and wondered if I enjoy playing WoW and asking me why I bot then. Basically mocking me with an "Enjoy your ban". He even named my other character I use to do the same thing on my other account. He said he is keeping an eye on me. I admit I have been botting quite a lot the past days, grinding mobs in Kalimdor to get my mog item to drop. I monitor both accounts all the time basically while doing stuff beside or just doing stuff in the livingroom. But I am concerned because this person knew my alt. I always check the who-list when I bot somewhere, to see if there are any people close or in the area. I keep refreshing the who-list all the time. I didn't get any whispers during this time. I am affraid I will get perma-banned since I already got banned once for farming ore. I opened a ticket for harrasement and falsely accuse of botting. It has 1 hour waiting time left before it will get awnsered.. But is this a good idea? Or will I awake sleeping dogs? 1 account was perma banned because of mining, but after appeal if was unbanned. But my second account is clean. But using both accounts to grind to get that f*cuking mog which has like a 0.02% shitty drop rate. Been botting for this item for almost a week now.

When he whispered me, I responded confused (since I really wasn't botting at the time) and told him I am afk-ing waiting for mobs to respawn. But he didn't care about my response. He merely mocked me and logged off. Only to make another toon about 15 min later, telling me he was back and was going to report me again since now he knew all my alts because of the WoW-forum...

What should I do?

Personally I'd cancel the ticket. You don't want to draw any more attention to your account. Don't bot for a while, play manually then if it's looked into you should be ok.

Just ignore him, put him on your ignore list too.
 
Do what you would do naturally. Natural behaviour wins. Tell the GM he's probably after the same TMog item you're after and is trying to remove you from the area. I don't think its a big deal, you only feel that way because you KNOW you botted. Up till now, the GM (who will be a random GM btw!) has no idea of anything.

That's what I would do anyway :)

You mean as in cancel the ticket? Or you mean...just leave the ticket and awnser the GM?
 
That's up to you m8 :) Personally, I'd speak to the GM as that's pretty much what a non-botter would do :)
 
one other thing if it was me i would not use that account that was banned i would use a "throw away" account. But that is a personal choice.
 
Why do people do this? What makes you think it's a good idea to draw more attention to your account when you've already been accused of botting?

The simple fact is he either did or he didn't report you. If he didn't report you, you just opened your account up to be investigated, and since you've already been banned once for botting, why would you basically admit to doing it again. If he did report you, you're probably already screwed anyways.

You know the best way in life to get away with shit? Give people as little reason as possible to look into your actions.
 
I am just worried. I don't know what to do. Because if I'm reported (pretty sure I am) then I'm screwed anyway.

Can Blizzard see I was using Honorbuddy over the past weeks? Btw, like I wrote. I wasn't even botting when he whispered me.
 
The goal is to act like a normal player as much as possible. What would a normal player do? Report this person not for 'accusations of botting', but for circumventing the ignore mechanics (since you mentioned he logged on 15 minutes later with another alt to harass you).

Ignore him, and move on. Yes, Blizzard will look at your account. They will also look at his account, as this may be a person who simply clogs up the support channels for personal vendettas.

Babysit your account. Watch carefully. Don't lose your cool over one person's accusations. But do not stop your routine: keep farming your transmog piece, and once you've gotten it, move on. Blizzard can't see that you've been using HonorBuddy (since Tripwire is in place, it would shut down both HonorBuddy and the game client if it noticed anything suspicious) but they will be able to see inhuman patterns, odd routes you've taken, and odd playtimes (and any messages). If how you bot is no different to how you play the game, you'll be safe.

Also, please realize that one report from a person will not fuck you over. You will need at least three reports for a game master to actively investigate. They will mark your account for a 'check' and move on. You may very well have many weeks of botting. You may have months. But one person's report is not the be all, end all. If it were...well, the support channels would easily be abused by auction house tycoons and rare campers.
 
OP thinks 1 report means a ban?

I mean if that were true I'd report every troll/ninja I see and try to get them banned.
 
Well. I'd still like to report the player who whispered me. I don't know what to say sincr you always need to give a reason and time frame which it occured.
 
Do nothing, continue botting... but if you can't afford to bot, don't.

As usual, this lvl 1 is someone from the other faction, which usually do the same routine as you or similar. Because in 95% or more cases, only the botters recognize the majority of the casual botting characters.
 
Well. This person was very specific. He asked me if I like to play WoW. And if so...why do I bot? He told me he hates people like me aka botters and he told me he would keep an eye out for me. Very specificly he even knew my alt. Which is on a different account under the same battle.net but in a differe t guild. Botting in 2 completely different areas. I was flabergasted by his knowledge about my account. It kinda scared me. And I actually felt harrased sjnce he kept whispering me with a different toon which I couldn't even put on my friendlist because they were instantly deleted. Telling me he knows my alts now from the forum etc... going to farm again tonight manually and see what happens.
 
the best thing to do when you catch fire is to roll on the ground, not run around wildly flailing your arms in the air
 
1 report means fck all in terms of chances of getting banned. GMs do not have anywhere near the amount of time it takes to look into every single report. I am sure there is a report threshold that they use to initiate investigations, maybe 20-30+ reports over a certain period of time or somesuch. Basically you have to get reported a LOT to get investigated. Either that or bot with the riskier bots, like BGBuddy or Dungeonbuddy.

Anyway OP one report doesnt mean shit, I wouldnt worry about it. But in fact if you ARE that worried about just one report and the possibility of getting banned I advise you to step back and consider if botting is really worth it knowing you COULD get banned and lose everything.

I might also add that this guy reporting you and whispering you means your botting behavior is too obvious to other players, I would try and find ways of toning down the behavior to make it seem more human like if you treasure your account. A lot of players just report and move on. So in fact you -might- have been reported multiple times by now, and this guy is just one of those dickbags that likes whispering botters and taunting them.

Bottom line, at the end of the day if you bot, there is always that chance of getting banned. You have to think about how much your acc is worth to you and if possibly getting banned is worth skipping the many tedious parts of WoW gameplay with a bot.
