ISO a DH starter guid with rare/crap eq to start farming gear

It have to be proven to work with DB and has to work with crap/low items.

I was in the exact same situation, I just got some shit gear (~500k damage with no set bonuses) and farmed T1 with lighting ball elemental arrow + rapid fire lightning.

Just farm rifts/adventure mode in T1 difficulty till you get either the Natalya's or Unhallowed Essence set. (Don't bother with m6).

Then use this site to find a decent built, i usually just went with Unhallowed Essense because using Trinity Fork with it to do damage while kiting is quite easy.

Took me not even a day of farming on T1 with rares to get a full unhallowed essence set. you just need the set bonuses really.
