The bot isn't perfect, but a lot of the issues with invasion are from the game itself. Invasion is designed in such a way that even with a perfect bot, you'd still die (if you never chickened). The only way to not die, is to play extremely safe, avoid all possible dangerous situations, and bail out as soon as you detect a new invasion boss, as any desync or client stutters could result in your death. In other words, you're spending more time not playing than actually playing.
I must ask, have you played a legit character in Invasion through Merciless yet? This game is nothing like D3 (if you've ever tried it or botted it), it's actually hard and there's a lot of frustrating mechanics, most of which the bot doesn't handle, because it's a new league, and well, it's a grind bot. We know there's things that can be better, but there's only so much that can be done when the game works like the way this one does. There's a reason why when the bot was updated for SoTV I posted this to the main thread:
[*]
Invasion League - The bot is simply not advanced enough to live in this league on its own. You're more than welcome to try and make it work, but chances are, you will get destroyed by the new mechanics. If you have not played this league any by hand, please don't bot it and then complain to us that the bot sucks and keeps dying. I did some early level testing by hand, and there's a lot of "wtf" things happening now (
for example).
A lot of people have been able to bot Invasion successfully, but they have a good understanding of the game and know how to make the most out of the bot. Botting low levels isn't really recommenced because the bot is a grind bot, not a "click one button to get to cap" type of bot. If you had a lot of low level uniques and a build that could face tank most things, then you'd be fine for the most part.
I just made a new character to test, and this is what I came across at the very end of
The Coast. There's no way the bot could survive that battle in noobie gear at level 2, but it did chicken as it was supposed to just fine, so I lived. You might want to uncheck chicken to character selection so it goes to login instead.
Anyways, Invasion is an extremely challenging league to play. Botting it, even more so. You'd need really custom tailored CR logic for your build to handle all the random stuff that can happen. Better CRs and bot logic is being worked on, but if you look at the way Invasion was designed, then read the official forums, there's really not that much we can do to make a generic bot work better in it, short of making a custom tailored "Invasion League" bot. Since it's only a 4 month league, and GGG is realizing they need to tone down a lot of the stuff, I can't say it's really worth not improving our generic bot rather than trying to make tailored bots for each new league.
That is something users can do with our API, which right now, is getting major revamps to make it easier for people to write the type of bots they want rather than relying on the generic default bot we are currently providing.
