Is changing your MAC adress efficient ?

I was recently banned (15 accounts all on the same PC), I came to the conclusion that thoses bans was MAC-adress related since my other computers weren't affected meanwhile I was using the same IP adress for all my PC.
This theory has been confirmed when I wanted to try to bot again on this computer and the account was almost instant-banned

I've searched for method to change the MAC adress, and I found it's quite easy to do, but I've seen few thread on ownedcore that says changing your MAC adress this way is useless since Blizz can detect you with your old MAC adress.

Can someone can confirm this ?

How many other computers were you running on the same IP address and how many bots were on those computers?
