and seeing if you try to interact?

I've noticed watching one of my accounts that if I leave it going over an hour it starts trying to fish non existent pools. This even occurs if i close and reopen HB.

Would this suggest blizz throws in nodes that are invisible to see if you will interact with them?

If yes clearly something suspect is going on

they can do that even if you are not a bot, if you are not a bot and you don't see node you don't fish it, but if you bot the bot search for id node and try to fish even if it's invisible....
and the same for herbs and mining... a good way for detecting bots...

Would whitelisting nodes work

Would whitelisting nodes work

Assuming that they are doing this, then whitelisting would only work if you knew which nodes were visble. You could have a perfect whitelist then the node visibility could change.

Again. This is assuming they are doing this. I have no idea, I don't farm gold, so it isn't something I give much thought

This used to be a real thing when gm's constantly were ingame and looking for bots, nowadays they rely more on mass flagging / detection. Botting evolved, so they had to aswell which is only logical. Banwaves in vanilla botting were like non-existent.

As happyfriet said,

this is indeed possible, but not likely.

I had the same thoughts several years ago, but never had any more solid proofs regarding this idea/theory.

true story

I saw several bots in Suramar trying to pick up the same a herb - that was bugged.

You could see the chat messages, inviting ppl to see the bots trying to pick it up.

Easily 6 to 10 bots to ban at once.

I'm like 99% sure this is whats catching us now.

The account I observed this on was banned today.

I noticed that as well. When attempting to do a world quest with one of the scripts from the buddy store. The bot would attempt to destroy one of the large spear shooters? (Kind of looks like a catapult) that was already destroyed. It could not be right clicked manually, but the bot sees it and can complete the action of clicking the 'node' and would get a full cast of 'destroying' before I get a message in the middle of the screen saying invalid. Not sure if this is an issue but it seems to me that blizzards way of detecting and banning bots seems to do with behaviors and actions that are being done in the game. This would require a new way of interacting with the game which is very hard and expensive to code again and restructure the bot. What I need is just a high end pvp/pve rotation bot that can't be detected.

I was banned while watching my toon only level from 81-84. I leveled this new account by hand. The ONE time I decide I need a break I am banned...It happens with leveling too. I was not near anyone and was not getting stuck. They can detect.

This would be a good way for them to detect bots, except that they clearly already can detect HB anyways. People have been banned using only the combat assist.

We know they can now we might know how.

Combat assist can still be tricked by giving targets that are impossible to target near bot. IE add a phatom player for a second or two in prime attack range see if they get single targeted etc
