Have browsed through about 25 pages of this forum, and am quite interested. Looking to get extra gold to my main, not really interested in leveling alts or pvp.

1. I'm on a very high pop US server. Bad idea to start another account here? Low or medium pop better? Or does it even matter?

2. Safe method of transferring gold to my main account? Face to face trade between two 85's work? I'd imagine lvl 1's trading or buying a 50k item off the AH is a red flag.

I plan to only bot when I can babysit it. Not staring at it every minute, but maybe use a spare computer for the bot while I read books, play movies etc next to it. I'm guessing this is the safest way.

Appreciate any advice, tips etc.

First off, welcome to the community. There are lots of good people here that enjoy helping others!

My 2 cents,
1) On a high pop server there will be more competition to farm and sell goods but there are also more buyers. Prices are usually lower but your items will probably move a lot faster as well. I play on a low-medium pop where prices are sky high but it takes awhile to sell stuff unless you have private buyers. All in all I would keep the farmer on the same server as your main. Make it easier.

2) Having two 85's would work. From my experience, the more legit your characters appear the safer they are. For instance, both of my farmers are 85. One is decked out in the latest pvp gear and the other is my pve toon, gemmed and enchanted, etc. I rotate both of them on different farming duties so it isn't the same old thing day after day. It's not conclusive that this stuff helps in my trading from one to the other but so far I've been safe over the last 2 years.

3) Lastly, if you plan on being in the general vicinity of the bot(this is usually how I am 75% of the time) then you should be pretty fine. Just make sure you have your safety nets like plugins to play sounds on whisper, excessive following and not running 24 hours a day.

Hope to see you around the forums! Happy Botting!

All three of upc's responses are spot on, I'd just like to add to the second point. "Bot Hunters" will armory toons that they see in Uldum/Twilight Highlands and Shimmering Expanse on my server. I believe gear is one reason why my farmers haven't been ban hammered yet. I also run ZNFK with some custom AIML scripts to help with whispers, though they rarely get spoken to. I make my own profiles and change them regularly (I consider a farming route that's more than 2 weeks old to be bad, but I might recycle it after a few months) and I break my farming up with things like an hour of pvp or run kicks questing profiles to clean up a few extra quests and build some guild rep. I also send them off rep farming or fishing every few weeks. I do all this to try to make them look more "human" in there statistics page.

P.S I run my bots on a remote server, so they always run 100% unattended, from midnight to 3pm. The Server is setup to startup and shutdown on schedule, and with things like HB crashes and svn errors destroying my singular install every so often my online time is always "randomised". using a relog program to start and manage the bots is a good idea too.

my extra 2 cents.
