Installed new, no go

I downloaded the installation file and after running the file, it tells me that there is an update. I click on the update, then takes me back and tells me there is an update, i click on the update, then it takes me back and tells me there is an update...over and over. .I not doing the update and it tells me the initialization failed, Check the log for detailed error description. The log file does not give a detailed error description. Please advise.
