I got banned today

So as you all know with the ban hammer coming down in pokemon go, my bot from poke farmer got banned today. I started the bot when it was coming from mygobot.com then switched over to pokefarmer. I used it up until the ban hammer came and always kept it in Sydney, Australia. It was lvl 34 and i never used it to fight any gyms or left its location until last night. I live in america and wanted to start using the bot naturally, so i caught a few pokemon with it. When i logged back in 8 hours later i was banned. Im not complaining or anything, but this kind of gives me some clues as to how bots get detected. Im assuming if you start a bot outside your country, youll probably end up on the radar once you switch over to your home town to play legit. No matter how careful you are. Im assuming niantic is keeping track of this whether youre a legit player or not. Also, i wouldnt risk taking any gyms with the bot, any player can report you and im sure this is another way niantic is finding botters. The only thing i suggest doing from here on out with your bots is play them in your hometown the day you create them and play carefully. Never log into them on your phone and save the bot until trading comes. If youre lucky enough, your bot will be spared. But who knows what the future holds.... good luck mates!

maybe if you waited more than 8 hours before you use it back to normal might have save your account im in melbourne but i got my bot set in sydney too they have pretty much every pokemon there lol
leveling new account is slower now had to make new account loss my lvl30 lol

Honestly the only reason I stopped botting temporarily is that I'm staying with a friend who plays legit and if the IP bans are true, I don't want to risk getting my friend/his IP banned for my cheating

Yeah, I totally agree. It would be absolutely stupid of them to IP ban. But apparently it's possibly a thing according to research others have done (dev stickies here). I haven't personally encountered an IP ban so can't speak from experience

Im thinking the teleportation is what gave me away. Which is why i say create a bot in your hometown and never leave it.

Yeah, it probably wasn't. I haven't encountered an IP ban personally but I've heard they're doing it in some cases from one of the stickied dev posts here and from some other forums. I hope it isn't true since IP bans are a pretty stupid way of banning imo (but ya never know with Niantic...)

My other bot is using same ip hasnt been banned yet, but that might be because i havent left Sydney yet. So teleportation is probably most likely a dead give away.

I got banned today on a fresh 1 day old account. I had it stay within 200m of the first location. The first location was the home next to mine. I only ever had to walk. I never ran it for more than 2 hours straight. And it was only level 12. And i never logged on from any device. This was my second bot account. First one lasted 3 days. But I teleported everywhere.

its retroactive....you might not got hit today, but it will come(i wish not to). happened to me today 3 accounts that retired botting 2 weeks or so, only access through my phone and ipad no 3rd party apps got hit with the ban hammer today!

I got banned yesterday, 97-99% into level 24..

Botted at low speed in my hometown.. Ran a few hours everyday.

I had about 6-7 bots which I was leveling up, most were between 17 and 21. Most of them got hit by the ban wave, but 2 survived, (my lowest and my highest).

To add my experiences to the pot, my level 21 that survived was started in another continent, (in the US, I live in Europe). I ran it in LA for a few days, then when the ban wave hit I didn't login for 24 hours, then I logged in on my phone in my hometown 24 hours later. It seems to have survived the jump okay, and I'm now using it in my hometown in Europe.

From my experiences, it seems to be the 2 accounts that I didn't run overnight that survived. The longest I ran these bots was for 3-4 hour sessions. All the bots that I left running overnight for 8 hour sessions got banned, I think because of the >1k pokemon or >2k pokestops within 24 hours rule. Changing locations seems to be okay if you leave it more than 12+ hours. That would be my theory...

Seems to have suddenly just stopped at 17:00 yesterday with no error messages and then this morning at tryed to reconnect and then the ban.

The Account that got banned was using the latest update whereas the account that is still running is Version is 1.0.89.0.

The only thing i suggest doing from here on out with your bots is play them in your hometown the day you create them and play carefully. Never log into them on your phone and save the bot until trading comes. If youre lucky enough, your bot will be spared. But who knows what the future holds.... good luck mates!

This is exactly what I'm doing for now, the bot accounts that I want to play on my phone are farming near my place, only an hour drive, but the accounts that I bot outside of my location I play it using bluestacks with fake gps also uses ip that corresponds with the location. I can bot my 5 accounts for 8hrs straight with no soft ban with the safe settings, Im only using 1 account to bot at a time, running 2 bots with the same IP at the same time ended up banning my previous accounts.
