Agreed. If you want to increase DPS on paper you need to have CC, CHD, IAS. CC and CHD is more important. you will see huge increase if you have CC, CHD in all of your gears
I dont know what the problem is really. I am Paragon 140 and have 1.2M sheet DPS, 63% CC, 545% CHD and 100% fire damage bonus. Its easy. Just farm and hope you roll trifect gear and re-roll garbage stats. Also gear with gem slots helps a lot whwn you use main stat gems.
Player a) has 880k Sheet dps and +70% elemental damage
Player b) has 1.2m Sheet dps and +70% elemental damage
Who will do more damage, assuming equal player ability and identical builds?

attackspeed increases sheetdps but does not always increase ability damage. same with 2hand vs two 1handers.
in the end 880k sheetdps may do way more damage then 1.2m sheetdps. even if its the same build.
You are correct of course, but this wasn't intended to be a thorough example. To state that sheet dps is irrelevant is ignorant, that's all my statement was designed to demonstrate.
I would have thought that was obvious.

imo it is irrelevant. it only matters for comparisons between characters with the same build and basically also the same items with the same stats.
it does not matter for comparison between different classes or builds. so its kind of pointless looking at it.
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it but it's fundamentally incorrect. If a person understands what stats to emphasise on their gear for a given spec (Guess what? Many people do
