did you download Hearthbuddy or HearthbuddyBETA (https://www.thebuddyforum.com/hearthbuddy-forum/195054-hearthbuddybeta-gvg-release-thread.html)?

with the normal Hearthbuddy client i got the same problem, changed to HearthbuddyBETA client and everything worked fine
also consider downloading and running BuddyWizard (you have to restart your pc after running it.)
