i want to make my comp go sleep mode overnight botting. going sleep mode seems to stop the bot/internet from working tho. i already unchecked the "turn off internet" in the NIC device properties, internet still dc when going sleep mode.

how to fix

Simply put you cant. Sleep puts the computer in to0 low of a power state to maintain actual program function. You can have it kill the display but you cant have it turn off the HDs or sleep if you want it to continue to bot

thats not why .. but yeah, you can't put the computer to sleep or lock it while you're botting.

yeah same as the other people have said. sleep mode basically puts your computer into "hibernation". it cant actively run programs... thats the whole point of sleep mode.

if you want your monitors to sleep ... do this:

right click desktop - personalize - screen saver (bottom right) - Change power settings (bottom left) - Choose when to turn off the display - 10 minutes or whatever you like / when to put the computer to sleep - never! - [Save Changes]

also, on the left panel... you can choose an option for when to put your hard disks to sleep. I choose 5 minutes. Why? because games only run on my ssd... so my other 4x 2TB's sleep when not actively in use.

o i c.. the reason i wanna put sleep mode is cuz the comp doesnt make noise anymore, its like the comp is turned off, which is what i want.

is it possible to change stuff around to make sleep mode run my bot fine but make no noise?

Again you cant use "sleep" mode and still bot. However you can achieve what you want with better fans (quite ones with really good bearings). If you want to get real fancy with it you can even go with a high end water cooling system (this is kinda overkill if you are just trying to lower the sound level). You can also invest in some noise dampening stuff for the tower (however you need to ensure proper cooling paths if you do this with GOOD fans)

PS - I know this probably isnt what you want to hear, and YES there are other ways to achieve it i.e. fan controls, either on board or extensions, and other stuff. This is just the simplest I can think of if your MoBo doesnt have fan speed control abilities built in. The noise is the fans, if you cant control the RPMs, or the fans dont have good bearing systems then theres not a whole lot you can do about the noise if you still want it to run. Other than maybe throw a quilt over it, but thats your own death sentence....and your PCs :P.

Please be careful with suggestions like this. I mean no offense intended to the original poster, but if he doesn't know enough about computers to know that he can't run programs while his computer is in sleep mode, he is also one of those users liable to stuff run of the mill home insulation inside his case to "quiet" it down. I highly doubt he understands what makes good cooling paths in a computer case if he doesn't know about sleep mode. And trust me this can happen, when I worked in IT repair a few years ago before becoming a full time developer, I actually saw similar things done to computers. One person surrounded their computer with pillows, another actually went in and cut the wires on all the fans (including the cpu fan). People that don't understand computers can do some really crazy stuff.

As I worked in IT repair and tech support myself as well I understand your point perfectly. Honestly, I didnt even think about it when I posted. You are absolutely right though. I have to remember some of the people we are talking to think that printers dony need power, and MS Office can be loaded into a computer through a form of "osmosis", by setting the unopened pack on the tower. Please dont think im being sarcastic either Im not. You have made me laugh for the day and remember some of my own funny tech stories.

PS - OK to the OP so I am not sounding like a complete ass to anyone else. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT drape a blanket over your tower like I joked about in my last post :D
