Not to be sarcastic, but the first step to learning anything is knowing how to use the "Search" feature, and just plain looking around. If you don't have these characteristics, you're doomed to be a bad to mediocre profile writer at best.
The forum search is to your top right, and this question has been asked several times recently. But, we'll answer your question anyway...
Most people start with a Grinding profile as they are mind-numbingly easy to write. For people that prefer a challenge or like to demonstrate mastery, they move on to Questing Profiles. For the latter, you probably have the most to learn by examining the works of the existing Profile Writing Masters. I'll leave it to you to figure out which Community members fit that category.
