How safe is monitored botting?

I used to bot afk/overnight/ blah blah blah, after reading more and more about banwaves I decided to have a way to monitor the bot like 90% of the time. How safe is monitored botting? My buddy got banned while he was sitting there monitoring it and he called asap and they unbanned him and said "woops"

at least it's saver then not monitoring, but at all, there are NO guarantees or something like 100% save.
