How risky is buying gold nowadays?

I farm my own gold but my brother buys gold almost everyday (waste of money lol), but he never got banned by Blizzard, so I would say that it is quite safe.
 
Serratis why not sell gold to your brother :).

I'd be more worried about getting scammed for buying gold than getting a ban from blizzard.
 
I used to be a regular gold buyer. About 4 months ago they sent me a letter telling me that most gold from companies is hacked gold. Anyway I didn't receive a ban nor was my gold taken away. Since then I don't buy gold anymore as making it is fairly easy. I think getting caught buying gold is a fairly low risk action.

edit - I think I misread your post. As far as safety is concerned I have also bought from dozens of companies. Never been ripped of yet as from 4 months ago!!
 
Any other opinions? I haven't bought gold in ages, but ever time i've sold gold to a level 1 my account was instantly banned

I'm wondering if it's the same for receiving gold on a level 90?
 
When I first started, I bought thousands every day (back in TBC) got my first account banned within 3 weeks. Bought gold a few times since, like once every year or so. But seems safe. Bought 70k two weeks ago, no ban.

Ive gotten e-mails like that aswell, i just waited a month or so and bought gold again.
 
in short:
buying is low risk, selling is high risk

i have sold over 1 mill in mop on my farming account and never got banned, i would sell roughly 50k-100k+ ata time, its all about the strategy used that makes buying/selling risky or not.
 
Buying is pretty safe. Bought 5-10 times in my life never been banned for it.

Selling is safe too, just use guild bank and don't use whole numbers like "100k" if you're paranoid.

Removed links because i dont know if leaving the links are allowed but this is the email I received and others have received ofc. But good thing is didn't get a ban after this. Bought more gold and still no ban so I would say its pretty low risk. I believe this was after a 50k purchase face to face.

Hi mate
without being hostile at all , I am just wondering why would you want to buy gold if you have been a member here for 2 years.
I bought gold before and never got a ban, I found botting and never looked back, nowadays I can make easily 30k a day and that is with no much work , if I really push the day and camp the AH I can make 125k in a day. If you invest safely and intelligently in your botting you will never need to buy gold again.
Just my 2 cents

I'm sick of losing accounts and tons of time investment because of botting

Botting takes a lot of work too.

You probably bot with like 10+ accounts or so.
Because making 125k gold a day is NOT possible with 1 or 2 accounts, since the prices of everything has fallen so much :-/
