How long does this wave last?

1 of my friends got the Ban hammer last night. We all had it running at the time of the tripwire, but he is the only one who got the hammer.
In the past banwaves, how long did they usually last?

I quit botting after the most recent trip wire. I understand when botting that I will get eventually banned and I took that responsibility when I downloaded HB.
However, has anyone quit botting and then 2-9 months down the road get a random ban for botting a long time ago?

It doesnt work that way, in other words there isnt a optimal "waiting period" before its safe to bot again.

From what I have seen and I can be corrected, a possible detection takes place at some point, perhaps from the tripwire event and Blizz gathers that info and waits until they see fit to hand out ban's that may affect a few people to many people as seen in May 2015 bans.

Its really speculation on how they identify us as bots, but if your account is flagged for some reason and they want you gone they gonna do it regardless of how long you lay low.
