How is activity monitored?

Hi all, my question is as follow: Does blizzard monitor activity by account or by IP address. I ask this because I was wondering if I could bot my one account for 8 hours then bot my other account for the proceeding 8 hours and keep them going in tandem. Both accounts are on separate battle.net accounts with different names. (One in my brothers, one in mine). Sorry if this has been posted before; I really did not know how to approach searching for it.

Cheers,

Snazzy

EDIT: Also, I just realized I wrote this post as if someone actually knows for sure what the answer is, so if the answer is unknown please just disregard this post :D

Blizz does manual investigation if 1 of your accounts is tracked (reported) then when GM catch you bottling live they check if this account has any other accounts on same ip/ mac adress, I also did this had 8 accounts 2 europe 6 us once I came home all 6 us accounts banned for same reason then second ban was all 8 accounts by same GM.

Ahh shit well that's not what I wanted to here. However, my question still lies is the activity monitor reset when you switch accounts or does it persist through IP. I understand this is a question that surely might not be known but was just wondering if anyone could provide some incite. Thanks for your input though!

Pure speculation.

There were also people where 1 account got flagged/banned and no single other accounts. Proves you wrong.

Yes they can see your IP and MAC HArdware ID numbers. If they check they see that you play 2 accounts on same computer on same ip

if they would ban based on multiple accounts on 1 mac address we would have a shitstorm of banthreads here.

Appreciate everyones input; thanks I think I have a general idea now.

It's all pretty much tinfoil hat theory. People have had multiple accounts banned in tandem, and others have had accounts with very obvious trading between each other have no such effect. It depends on to what degree a GM takes to involve themselves or how much they observe. They do "investigate" using statistic, and will be able to figure out (to a degree) where all of your resources will go. They monitor gold and the Auction House for abuse rather thoroughly. Chances are you'll be fine unless you're moving really suspicious amounts of goods between accounts.

Well so far no goods are moving between accounts, just different accounts leveling on different realms using the same IP. One after the other. Like for instance, one on for 8 hours then log off then directly after the last log off the other account goes on for 8 hours etc etc.

You can play like close to 12 hours dont limit yourself to like 8 hours.

I run a 6 account team 5 farmers and 1 guild leader that never bots. All my farmers get banned. But, my guild leader hasn't been banned so far.

thats not true. i get mass bans weekly. and i did not post a single report. why should i? i know i bot to get banned, and i know it is a short time until the ban hits. but i also know i always hit my RoI and always get some bucks out.
i know 3 others who act in the same manner. i dont know anybody who fills out the ban reports here.
and there is almost never a single ban. it is always a mashine/ip wipe, if a ban hits. for me and my 3 bot mates.
just because we don't fill out the ban reports doesn't mean we dont get banned.

i guess the majority of mass botters does not care about the ban reports here. cos we know it is part of the business.

rogue demon...i have been deleted, 3 guild holder account, and 12 bot accounts... so...

Depends on what you farm GB2 is extreemely unsafe also pick pocket They can track same routes/behaviour and they see when they check.

So much speculation.

Think of this, we keep this game rolling. We supply the economy to some degree.

Blizz does not care untill u get reported, i strongly believe there is no active cheat monitoring.

Why spend cash to track if you got a /report system in game.

If you are flagged, aka reported by x people, you are investigated. And if they do they know, simple as.

Movement, hours, ip's, accounts , time , and what not.

Also speculation, but sounds more legit then anything above.

Bot smart and u wont have a problem. Farmers on the other hand have shitload of competition.

If they see one flying a report is easily made, half of the community doesnt know how to spot a bot even when

followed by one, the other half are botters, and theres your problem. Competition is a bitch.

From my experience, blizz gives a fck about your activity. They see a report, a gamemaster will look at it and then it depends on him whether all of your bots get banned or not.
