How I got BuddyWing to work, as of Dec 12th, 2013

Running Windows 7, Net Framework 4.5

Hopefully this case is not unique to me! I ran into problems with getting BuddyWing to work initially. Someone else in the forums wrote that you need to replace the defaultcombat folder in the Routines folder. But I still got this:

01a.webp

So I went about trying to fix this. Hours gone by with no progress. But then out of nowhere it worked! I wasn't sure what I did (had not logged my attempted fixes) until I came across this cause I had been tinkering with TortoiseSVN:

03_001.webp

Why was this all of a sudden working?!

My easy fix was to just add %01 preceding the folder name of whatever app you are using. The percent sign is required, along with any double-digit number. In this example I'm using Joes combat routine, but still had other errors. Looks like the problem wasn't isolated to just the Routines folder, cause the plugins were affected too.

02b.webp

So I renamed them as well:

05.webp

So now I finally got it to work! Screenshot below:

03a.webp

later on I noticed a small issue with buddymonitor. so i just deleted it:

delete all the plugins none of them work, then delete any settings files they made in your settings folder.. that fixes 95% of all issues without having to rename folders to %01 n such

nope

I did like you said, but it didnt work out: new install, empty plugins folder, and also emptied the CompiledAssemblies folder as well. same result

not compiled assemblies.. in your actual settings folder inside your buddywing install folder it will have something like... autoequip.xml the settings file for autoequip make sure thats deleted

I made sure these folders were empty:

Settings
Plugins
CompiledAssemblies

same problem.

so far I've tried pureswtor, joes, waltz, and adude combat routines, all of which work fine if I rename them using the % method.

Here is the log:

tried a fresh installation from scratch?

yes it will happen even with a clean install (but after removing the preinstalled defaultcombat folder and replacing with a working combat routine)

It was the first problem I ran into as a new BW subscriber.

got it all worked out , at least so I dont have to rename anything to get BW to work properly. I'm guessing its a security / User rights issue, from what I've googled about the 0x80131515 error code. I think Buddywing is safe, but my system thinks otherwise: whenever I copied anything from the C:\BW folder I had to confirm a prompt to continue for everything, even for a simple text file (Changelog.txt)!

1.webp

Going back to how I got BW fully working: I just moved the entire BW folder from the root of my C:\ drive onto my desktop. From there I ran the .exe file and the program ran fine!

I have no idea why it works it just does. On my laptop BW works fine from the root of C:\

note: my system OS is Windows 7, with norton internet security, but with exceptions added for the BW folder, and all BW's .exe and .DLLs files

This is windows itself... Ive had these issues when i reinstalled windows 7.
For some reason everything you wrote to the drive is "registered" with the account you wrote it.
With the new install windows 7 thinks it doesnt has full access to that drive / files, which it has.

OR

You dont have full permissions.

For me this worked (dont do this for you C drive, but for all Alt-drives):
Say this problem occurs with your D-drive:
Copy all files and folders to another drive (for example E-drive)
Format D-drive
Copy files from E-drive back to the freshly formatted D-drive.
On reboot, windows shouldnt have these problems anymore.

This worked for windows 7 and 8 for me...
