How exactly does the "display caught Pokemon after restarting" function works?

Hey there!
at first i thought this option is great! because i can see when i reach the 24h limitation.

But after some practise yesterday and today i realy dont understand how it works or if it resets after 24h... Yesterday evening i closed the bot (same account as today) with 498 catched Pokemon.
Today im starting it and it tells me i got 119 caught Pokemon from before...
isnt it working (cant believe that)? or is it just working in a way i dont understand fully right now?

Hmm Yesterday night i stop with 298 catched Pokemon. Then due to the new update i cleared cache and now the counter has started again from 0. I even saw a reset after 24h. So try to remember if you have updated/cleared cache or the 24h are expired.
