Hi, I'm having an issued with mailing to an alt/other toon running HB. I've typed a name in the little box where you put the mail to info, check my force mail and protected items files and everything is the same as on the wiki page.

Have check each of the profiles I'm using to make sure there is command lines to mail and sell, but for some reason, the only thing that happens is it sells all the items not protected and never actually mails anything.

There is absolutely nothing showing in the log files when each char goes to sell, other than they sell to a npc, nothing about mailing to this toon or that toon. The sell feature works great, but just can't get it to mail anything....

Oh, and yes, I've read all the guides in the guide section already, and spent about 8hrs reading the entire wiki so posting telling me to "just go read the guide" will get you /faceslapped. :D

I've tried this on about 10 different toons now and none of them will ever send any mail to any other toons. All tests have been with different races and classes, so I doubt it's the CC since the CC only controls combat and such.

I've also tried sending mail with about 15 different profiles, and still no luck so pretty sure it's not the profiles either...

So, in deductive logical reasoning that would leave some little thing either I"m overlooking with the HB settings or it just don't like me... LOL

I have tried this using build 3895 (didn't mail)

build 3881 still didn't send mail,

and even went back to build 3804 and still won't send mail.

Already checked the .net framework, verified tested and no errors passed all tests installed and working correctly.

With each different test for each different build I complete deleted the HB directory, any registry entries and all temp/cache files before installing another build.

So I am stumped, no clue why it won't send items thru the mail to another char.

Any constructive and informative help is welcome. Thank you.

Last time I checked, .3804 worked wrt/ForceMail. (A lot of people use one of the Volatile Air grinding profiles, and when I last used them the Airs made it to my banker.) I haven't had the occasion to test ForceMail in a while. I'll ask a few obvious questions:
  • Do you have a ForceMail.xml file?
  • Is the ForceMail.xml file located in your <hb_install_directory> and not under a sub-directory like Settings?
  • Did you respect the camelcase naming for the <ForceMail> element in that file (my guess is yes you did from you subject selection. :) )
  • Does your log show any kind of 'formatting error' (probably toward the front of the log file)? Maybe a > was used to closed an <Item> instead of />, or ForceMail.xml ends with a <ForceMail> instead of a </ForceMail> tag.

Since you say you tested .3804, and I'm pretty sure .3804 works, we need to eliminate a problem on your end. Posting your log would help, as a lot of people don't notice the parsing and other such errors reported in their logs.

If you truly think you've found a bug, enter the issue in BugTracker, and mark it as critical. Since, this is essential functionality for Honorbuddy. Be sure to describe the problem as you've done here, attach your logs (even though you say nothing is visible, there is a lot of other information in it the developers can leverage), and perhaps reference this thread.

sorry we couldn't help further,

I'm sorry but did you bother to read my post past the part you quoted? From your post it sounds to me like you did not read the entire post. I clearly stated that I had already done everything you suggested in your post before you made the post. I am not an idiot those things I check before even making a post.

Logs do not help with this as I stated I went thru the log files line by line and there was never any reference to ForceMail at all. The bot only referred to selling items to vendors and not mailing anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked everything the guides said to check, and checked it three times, as stated in the original post.

I did try to "submit this to BugTracker" however there was a problem, upon entering all of the requested information to Submit a bug using the form, the Submit button still would not become available for me to click on, and yes I filled out every space and selected a log file to submit, but it still would not let me click the Submit button.... No clue as to why, thus the reason I posted this very simple question here.

Yes I know people are using it fine with no problems, but for some reason it's not working for me.

Yes I have a ForceMail.xml file, and yes it's where it is supposed to be.
The ForceMail.xml file I have is the one that comes with HonorBuddy, double checked to make sure it's still there and in it's original condition.

Each Profile I have been using has the lines-
Code:
<MailGreen>true</MailGreen>
<MailBlue>true</MailBlue>
<MailPurple>true</MailPurple>

That code is in all of the profiles I've been using, never does it specify what item to mail in the profile, just says green, blue, purple. None of them say to <MailWhite>true</MailWhite> could that be the reason that it's not mailing stuff? BTW it's not mailing the greens, blues or purples either.

I double checked the spelling of the name of the char that I wanted everything mailed to.

If HB will run long enough to fill the chars bags again to trigger the sell/mail routine I will post the log, even tho there is nothing there aside from the normal bot start/stop errors, path errors, and hang ups.

I don't know what else to tell ya, I mean it sounds simple to setup, what little instructions there are to set it up are very simple, each profile has a section for it, but I guess it just don't like me cause if I babysit the bot long enough starting and stopping and rebooting it a chars bags will eventually get full and I have to empty them by hand.

I even went as far as to fill up a chars bags with vendor bought junk and some mats I already had just to see if the bot would mail anything.....and it didn't.

The only other thing I can think of is that mailing is disabled on the trail sessions for HB?
I'm using the Trail to test out the bot to see if I want to buy it or not, I decided that if I can find 1 alliance and 1 horde profile that will level 1 char from lvl 1 to lvl 20, which is the trail limits, (with very little grinding mostly questing), totally hands off 100% afk, then I'll buy a lifetime. But so far I haven't gotten any char past level 6 before something occurs and I have to intervene and restart the bot after whatever caused the problem has been "worked around".

Which I really hope this all works out, because I'd really like to use this program to level some chars that are not finished yet.

Anyway, hope this information helps, don't know what else to tell ya, other than please read the entire post not just the first line, then comment. :)

Thank you.

Ok, I have a complete log that has near the bottom several times the bot went to the vendor to sell items, but never goes to a mailbox and mails items. There are other bugs/glitches in the logs, but those are for another thread, I'm concerned with the fact that it goes to sell to venders but never goes to a mailbox to mail to an alt char. Please examine the log and advise how to resolve this issue so that I can get the bot to mail items. Thanks.

I have found a fix to this problem myself, after looking thru one of Kicks posts about making profiles yourself, he had the solution to the not mailing problem right in his guide.

[Guide - Kick] How to make profiles in HB2 (Grinding / Farming / Rep)

It seems that in order for the mail function to actually work, then each profile one uses has to have Mailboxes and their locations listed in the profile. If you don't have to have them listed to get it to work I don't know how to do that. Inserting the locations of the mailbox into the profile I'm currently using has seemed to fix the problem, I fill up the chars bags on purpose with random stuff, then started the bot, and low and behold right after going to the vendor to sell he went to the mailbox and mailed everything he had in his bags that was on the ForceMail.xml file, YAY!!!

So it seems that although not a pretty fix, as I am going to have to go into each and every profile I use and make sure it has Mailboxes listed to make it work, it does now work, so all is good.

If there is another way to get ForceMail to work without having to add mailboxes and their locations to every single profile please let me know, thank you.

any profile you use should have mailboxes added if you want to use the mail feature, just like if you want to protect items or forcemail items you need those lists.

Yea kinda found that out the hard way, I searched all over this site, and nowhere did I find that it specifically said that to use the mail function of HB you had to have Mailboxes and their locations listed in the profile you use. That would have been helpful information cause it would have saved me alot of time and frustration trying to get it to work.

I do have ForceMail.xml and ProtectedItems.xml files in the root of my HonorBuddy install directory, and so far it has not sold anything that was listed in either of those files, and now that I know I have to have the mailbox stuff in the profiles I'm using, it is mailing everything listed in the forcemail file. So it's all fixed now....

Now just to do the long job of going thru all the profiles I'm using and add in all the mailboxes for each zone / area that the profiles visit. Ugh this is gonna take awhile. LOL
