How do YOU determine the best target when playing (when you have adds)

While this isan't really a discussion about code, it is development related, as such, the most appropriate thread.

When you are playing (PVE questing/grind) and you get adds, how do you evaluate the most suitable target to attack first?

Do you kill casters first?
Do you kill the target with the lowest health level / health percent?
Do you kill the lowest level target first, leaving the highest level target for last?

Obviously there are some targets you kill because they perform a specific ability or cast a specific spell, but all that aside how do you choose the best target?


Using the below scenario; if you were a level 65 character what targets would you kill in order of priority? You can't crowd control any of these mobs, they have to be killed.

Mob1 - Caster - Level 67
Mob2 - Caster - Level 65
Mob3 - Melee - Level 65
Mob4 - Melee - Level 67

Yes, I know, as a level 65 character you're probably going to get the shit kicked out of you, but indulge me with this.

Lowest HP mobs first, then melee, then lowest level.
 
if i'm a melee i'd go for melee first, then lowest hp, then lowest level, if i'm ranged i'd go for lowest hp first, then melee, than ranged, that because a ranged can choose between all target's while a melee should before kill the enemy in range before moving to a caster with 4 enemy beating on him
 
Interesting. I look at it this way... I'd go for lowest level, with the lowest health, then ranged (if casters), then melee.

The reason I'd go for lowest level is they are typically easier to kill and have less dodge/resists than the higher level mobs. I would also go for casters before melee as they are typically more destructive.

My kill order would probably be (assuming casters are ranged):

Mob2 - Caster - Level 65
Mob3 - Melee - Level 65
Mob1 - Caster - Level 67
Mob4 - Melee - Level 67
 
think it will depend on class..

but normally i'd do what fpsware does :P
 
The one which dies fastest, assuming your are in an area suitable for your level.

Casters > ranged > melee

If a ninja pull occurs midcombat the one with lowest HP

Edit: First to die are btw run-away potentials!
