how come some items are in red?

you always see a yellow with a red unidentified but its item is in yellow...like rare shield.
but you see some items that say rare shield in red I see mighty weapons like that but every once in a while I will see rare bow or something in red.
of course a level 63 bow with 442 dps is not that great LOL
