Please understand, I am not trolling anyone. I am a 10 yr veteran WoW player who came here last week actually looking for botting information.
As a strong user of AH and farming mats for sale I had heard of and seen bots in certain areas, most notably in Chamber of Moons and wondered how they continued to get away with it.
Imagine my surprise to hear about the banwave and all the issues happening the past few weeks. Now to my observation.
It seems the majority of public explanations for botting were in the realm of "Garrisons are boring, I had to do it", "leveling is boring, I had to do it", "farming was boring, I had to do it", etc. Yet the deeper I get into the forums I see people bragging about farming for xx hours straight while asleep, or at work.
I've stood in Chamber of Moons and seen the bots running on a set pattern, killing 1 mob out of each pair, ignoring the other, running past several NPCS to kill another one then running off at an angle to find another single mob and kill it.
I guess my point, without blaming certain types of players is that excessive botting seems to be the trigger that causes Blizz to react, not just normal gameplay with some help from automation.
I'm just glad I didn't start botting in April on my 10 yr old account, but I can assure that HB devs constant brags that they had never been detected would have convinced me that I could get away with it, and I would have been a mighty butthurt puppy the morning of the banwave.
