Help Upgrading Ram?

I've used the corsair and the Kingston website to locate RAM for my computer, but I can't seem to find the correct RAM that is "for gaming/high performance." Does that really matter? Is 16 gigs of their "value purchase" RAM going to be THAT much worse than there others?

Here is my CPU and Board info:
I5-2500 CPU @ 3.3 ghz w/ Turbo boost to 3.7 ghz
P8H67-M LX

My CPU seems to do fairly well running 4-5 bots, but my 8gb of memory seems to get shat all over lmao.

Recommendations guys? Thank you!

you didn't give enough information to determine ram, without having us go look up the individual parts ourselves. things that affect this - sockets from cpu to mobo, im guessing yours is 1155. what is your suggested ddr3 frequency

Sockets: LGA1155
DDR3 frequency recommended: 1333 mhz
240 pin ofc.

That help?

lol

so what kind of ram do you have now? download CPU-Z if you don't know and check out the memory tab.

normally value ram is good to save a couple bucks, but they usually lack a modern/quality heatsink
usually have higher timings ( lower is better) and sometimes may have chips that cannot perform to the stock speeds
or overclock very poorly being from lower bin'd chips.

1333, 1600 are going to be the most common speeds. odds are if you don't know i doubt its 1600.

usually higher the speed the higher the latency with value ram, but don't get too thrown off by this

if you think you have a set you'd like, just type that name in google and follow it with "review" most pc parts get reviewed by some site or another, stay away from anywhere you can buy it, thirdparty sites like tomshardware, occ and other are a great resource

-edit-
i had posted before i saw OP reply.

go grab some 1600mhz ram, and try to keep the timings to 10-10-10 or lower.

-edit2-
after my main "beast" had a chunk of its ram die on my i was down to 9gb, oh man i could tell immediately, i know how you feel

Haha, I have CPU-Z. Will my computer be able to run 1600 even if 1333 is recommended? I have some people say it will just reduce it down to 1333 and others say that it doesn't do that? I just want to run all my facking bots! Lmao

This shit is driving me nuts. Everyone is saying different things lmao. I was told that it would be compatible with 1600. Can someone give me a correct answer so I don't fuck this order up? Lmao

RAM is backwards compatible when referring to the data transfer rate or 'speed'. So RAM rated at 1600MHz is fully capable and functional running at 1333MHz. RAM does have specific voltage requirement to run at advertised speeds. 1600Mhz rated RAM will require more voltage to run at the higher speed. RAM with higher advertised 'speeds' (1600Mhz.) will also require greater or laxed CAS latency and timing settings to achieve the higher speed. High Performance 1333Mhz. rated RAM should require less voltage, have tighter timings and be capaple of OCing to 'near' 1600MHz speeds. Anyway, RAM is backwards compatible so the higher rated RAM should work in the MB. You may have to install 1 DIMM and set the voltage properly in BIOS then install the remaing RAM with the correct voltage applied

Awesome! Thank you so much for your time guys! Time to try to find the proper RAM now :P

This. Very good answer, indeed. Since your MOBO supports: 2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1333/1066 Hz Memory, this means whatever memory you get, it will run at 1333 anyway. As for the make of memory, there isn't a very big difference between makes and models, provided you are not going to overclock it. I'd, however, suggest that you check other brands as well(instead Kingston and Corsair) such as: G.Skill, Patriot, Avexir etc. Depending on where you live, try to get the cheapest 1600 rated 2x8gb 1.5v memory that you can find.

If you live in the USA, buy that from Newegg.
If you live in the UK(or somewhere close to the UK) buy it from Overclockers.co.uk
If those two won't work for you, that's okay, just use them to compare models and search for the same models in other websites.

If you find different kits, with the same availability and price, get the one that is retard with LOWER timings (CL/CAS is most important, usually that will be 9). If timings are the same, toss a coin for it.
