Help creating a plugin?

I have a friend who is willing to teach me some coding and I would like to learn how to create a plugin that the grindbot would use to change areas to grind randomly. I am sure this cant be too difficult being that there is currently a selector for an area to grind and the bot will make its way there if there isnt a waypoint.

if anyone could point me in the right direction on this I would be VERY grateful.
