I'm trying to set up my lcd tv as my 2nd monitor the problem is... when I have my pc monitor connected to the graphics card(vga) and the tv then the tv doesn't work. I already tried enabling in settings and ati forcing it to detect the tv.

If i unplug the monitor and restart the pc with only the hdtv connected it works fine.

Anybody know how I can fix this? yes I have the newest drivers.
Yes my graphics card supports dual monitors

how are the connections you have. VGA is it add on video card or build on motherboard and the one you are trying to hook TVI up to, guessing it has 2 points

My video card has VGA HDMI and the white one DVI?
Connect PC Monitor with VGA = Works
Connect HDTV with HDMI = Works

Connect both HDMI + VGA = Only VGA works.

i've tried enabling it from the display properties by rightclicking on the 2nd screen and setting it "extend" doesn't work.
have done the same thing with the Catalyst doesn't work.

I thought it had to do with the fact that when I turn on the pc it goes to VGA and then by the time I'm in windows and it tries to send the signal to the TV and the TV doesn't get it or something.
So I started the pc with HDMI connected only and it works.. then once inside windows I connect the VGA monitor... and it automaticly switches to the PC monitor and the TV gets no signal

No my main botting pc screen has DVI but I'm using it on my main botting pc :P
I'll guess I'll try tomorrow.

maybe ur vid card doesn't like vga (analog) and dvi / hdmi (digital)

sounds weird

well i assume your card is ati if your talking about cataylist

im use to nvidia an to get it to display 2 screens i have to enable it in the software called nvidia control panel which is probally what your catalyist is

also do you just want it extended ? or do you want to to mirror your monitor

also are you running in SLI ?

I'm using ATI and It doesn't matter if i set it from the windows panel, or the ATI panel

you know kick i shouldnt get on forums when im high i just read what i posted lol talking about sli on ati cards its crossfire instead

but yeah your right you should be able to do it either way

only case being is if some how you have 2 or more gpus on your system which is either sli or crossfire depending on your cards, could be preventing you from using dual screen

nah it's a cheap ati hd 2400 used just for botting.
can't find anything online this is pissing me off
