Historically, botting interest always dies down the closer we get to the end of the league, much like interest in the game itself. Have a look at the Path of Exile steam charts to understand the nature of this game: http://steamcharts.com/app/238960#All
Legacy league ends May 29th, which is only 18 days away. There will be 1 week of nothing for PoE, and then a new closed beta will start for the 3.0 test, to which we'll start working on updating the bot for the upcoming expansion. That closed beta is expected to last 5-6 weeks, but might run longer, and the 3.0 expansion is expected sometime in July although we can't rule out the possibility of it being pushed to August.
If you check The Fall of Oriath Beta FAQ: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1897264 you'll see the main thing GGG has planned June-July is mostly events, which no one really bots since they are temporary fun leagues that get merged back into their respective parent leagues (which will only be Standard/Hardcore since the next challenge leagues come with the 3.0 expansion)
A number of big EB changes will be required for the 3.0 expansion, so there's going to be some downtime associated with the release, but the closed beta should help a lot in getting things prepared. Until a compatible closed beta bot is finished though, you'll be stuck botting standard/hardcore.
This means for most people, there is nothing new or exciting in the game to keep them botting until later in June. As to whether or not you should keep botting, that is entirely up to you, but the answer for most people is going to be to just wait until the next wave of new content hits along with the new EB updates, which is more or less months away.
