HI guys i managed to pick up 5 battlechest key while they were on special over christmas with the intention of trying out a 5 man botting team but ended up moving house so put it off. i'm all setup in the new house now and would like to give it a go but just have a few questions.

so currently i've done a bit of botting on my main (leveling) and than had an alt running on a crappy laptop that was just grinding stuff and farming to supply for my main which has been working really well for like 7 months now. i never go to crazy just sustaining my main with mats and a bit of gold.

so i'm looking at getting another 3 keys to do a 5 man team with the battlechest i got over christmas but i'm just wondering a few things about the setup.

1.since i'm thinking my old laptop won't run 5 copies of wow that well i'll just do it on my main pc. is this a bad idea because i play with my main account on this pc? should i really try to push the laptop to run 5 copies (it's like an i5 with 4g of ram a few years old)

2. this is kinda my main question and i know it's kinda noobish but do i need to install 5 virtual machines to run 5 copies at once or can i just have 5 instances of wow running inside a normals windows 7 and attach an honorbuddy application to each instance? is running virtual machiens only for safty purpose or a necessity?

3. if my team gets banned should i re install a fresh copy of wow to when starting new account or it doesn't matter?

Thank in advance for any advice :)

From what I can gather, there's only really a point to using VMs if you're running a botfarm, and even then there are no certain facts, it's all just conjecture.

Your laptop won't be able to run 5 copies of wow AND 5 copies of honorbuddy, it probably won't have enough RAM to do it, since that's mainly what will limit you once you start running multiple bots. I say probably, since my rig uses about 7G ram with 5 running, though my system is 64b windows, so a lot goes just for having windows running.

Everyone who bots can only speak from their own experience, and what gets reported on the ban forums. In my own experience, you don't need to take any measures with a 5 man team. I personally have my own wow install for botting, and a separate one for my main accounts, though this is just so I won't have to switch graphics settings etc all the time.
- I run all 5 botting wows from that same install, and my same team has been going strong for about 5 months.

I can only speculate why my team hasn't been caught, from what I've read people seem to be banned after moving alot of gold, or staying logged in for extreme amounts of hours. Based on this, I almost never move any gold at all, if my main needs something, I buy that item with my bank alt, and mail the item to the character, maybe with a small amount of gold on the side, but never up in the 100000s of gold. Or I join the bot guild with a character, and just withdraw the gold directly from the guild bank, I do not send this gold to any other character after this, since it seems to be the moving gold between characters that puts you in the spotlight.

As for botting hours, I never really let the team exceed 12-14 hours online, as there's some speculation regarding if Blizzard has some system that alerts their gms if you're logged in too long. Even if you're just logged out for 1 hour seems to work, if there is any effect at all. This way I can keep my team going for 20ish hours a day, and it seems to be safe.

As for starting up after being banned; before i started my 5 man team i lost a lot of accounts to single farming Gundrak/botanica etc, I never took any measures after losing the accounts and starting again. I speculate that Blizzard will only watch you if they see you're running a botfarm, and consequently just ban everything you touch.

In conclusion: People will come in here and spout all sorts of shit about stuff you need to do as if they themselves work at blizzard. The fact is there are no facts, just pure speculation. You might get banned after only a couple of days just doing the same shit I've been doing for months, just like I've read about people being able to farm Gundrak/botanica for 20+ days 24 hours straight every day with no bans, while my accounts only seemed to last a maximum of 3 days, if not being banned after 5 hours in certain cases.
You've gotten some guidelines, you'll have to work stuff out on your own now^^

p.s: I'll save you the trouble of wondering if 5 man teams are any good with my gph measured over months with the same team:

Using the standard honorbuddy dungeonscripts, running 3 hunters, 1 blood dk and a balance druid(you have to have one class able to queue as a healer, even if it's going to be dps), all 550 ilvl geared, nets me 750 gph for 3 of them who aren't looting, about 1250 gph for the two looting, after vendoring everything.
This comes to 4750 GPH in total, or 950 gph per character.
I recommend using the addon !statter for measuring gph, can be found here on honorbuddy forums.

p.p.s I never play my main account while my bots are running since i've had it happen before that accounts that i'm botting on have gotten banned, while I've been online on an account that wasn't botting, and that still got banned. Then again i've hear from a lot of people who say they will only ban the account that bots, even if you're online at the same time, so there's a lot of uncertainty going around.

Sounds like you have a really bad setup, which classes are you running?

Edit:

My team been running for the last 3 hours, here's pic from my tank who doesn't loot anything, and a pic from one of my looters:

The queue popped shado pan monastery and siege of nizuao temple a lot though, which tends to drag gph a bit down, I've had full 14 hours sessions with gph up in 850 on nonlooters just from being lucky with the dungeon queue and mostly just getting scarlet monastery and scholomance.
p.s Some people have claimed to be able to hit 1200 gph on nonlooters from editing the dungeon scripts to pull more packs faster, though I wouldn't know anything about this. It seems plausible, since my characters two shot most trash mobs, a lot of time is wasted pulling such small packs as the bot does currently.

Wow nordrassil thanks for the very informative post. Time and time i seek these forums for advice and time and time there always seem to be some kind stranger who's willing to sit down for a sec and go through things.

Some of the things i was thinking line up with what you were saying and everything else you said should give me a good basis to go on. and yes i agree bans are totally speculation at this point. i could do as you say a very simm8ilar method to you and get banned in 2 days. but that's why i'm trying this experiment to see how it goes :).

One last question. you're obviously queing as 5 man and you say you run for over 8 hours. that's awesome, i'm just wondering if you random their activites at all during these sessions or your just continously queing random dungeons?

My final question is. when you say you have 2 sepearte wow installs. are those just different copies of wow lbut on your same computer? as in if i transfer the unique download of wow i have on my laptop to an external drive. and launch thegame from that external on my main computer it'll be seperate from the wow i luanch from my C: drive?

Thanks again for all the information man i think i'm ready to give this a go :)

OOOOH one last questino. what's the question way to get honor for ilvl gear now? i pvp'd my set and it was super quick and easy due to paid CR and my conuqest cap was like 25k

Hey nordrassil i pm'd you for some advice check your pm's

So i'm up to the dungeoning phase now and everything rather swimmingly accept for 2 things. the RAF system in wow is driving me crazy it keeps not sending the email to the right accounts and can't seem to activate it (might jsut raf on my enxt set). secondly my druid healer isn't using heals on cd :(. my tank engages and the druid does heals, but when i'm looking at him he's casting spells out really slowly and the tanks dying ALOT. using singular and have turned healer dps off. still not using healing spells when the cooldowns up :(

Edit: restarted HB healing fine now :D

yeah this, how to get 550ilvl gear

PVP honor gear. When 6.0 came out, it was pretty easy to get it in 1-2 days. Now level 90 BGs have a 15 min wait time, it would probably take a week or so of constant bg botting, way too risky.

man, you are doing it wrong. don't try your hand on a 5 man team. let the 5 man team try their hands on you!

sorry, i couldn't resist. :p

My team has a bear, a 2-headed dog, an ostrich and a hyena. I'd rather not :)

Is there a rason why doing random is better than just selecting a specific dungeon in dungeonbuddy? i understand you get like 50g per run but would it be better gph to just select the most efficient dungeon?

don't even think about getting into dungeon botting if you value your main. it will be banned, guaranteed. it's only a matter of time. also dungeon farming isn't really worth it anymore, since blizzard pumps out banwaves daily at the moment. look for other things to bot like ores / transmog gear or pets.

Think you're mixing random heroic 5 man team farming with single character dungeon farming. Blizzard has always "pumped out bans daily" for single char dungeon farming, that's what you're seeing in the ban section. Read the thread again before commenting next time.

Edit: saw one guy getting his team banned, but he was an idiot andused them in botanica before going into mop. Every botter knows to stay away from Botanica.
