We'll be looking into simplifications if possible, but there's no way to make everyone happy.
If we only make options for one mode, then people who switch between different modes will complain that they have to reconfigure the bot for each mode and would want settings to avoid that.
If we make options for all modes, which is what we did to start with, then things look more "complicated" than before.
The hard part is, in order to add new features, and provide ways for the community to get involved, a more "complex" setup is required. There will be a little learning curve to start, but once people get used to things, and we smooth out some ease of use issues, I think we'll be heading in the direction most people want us to in terms of improving the project.
I do think the current setup will change to reduce the # of options for each game mode. However, we need a different system in place first to allow users to do things like:
play 3 ranked games using deck 1
wait 1 hour
play 5 ranked games using deck 3
play 1 practice game using deck 6
etc...
While that system might even seem a lot more complicated, it gives people the ability to control how the bot runs, to make it look less bot like by doing the same thing over and over each day. People who want to make a scheduler to run different settings on different days would be able to as well.
As for your question, that feature is not currently added back into Hearthbuddy. For now, we need users to type in the names of their custom decks to use, then stop the bot and change it as needed. We have plans for changing the way that random deck setup works, so it won't be the exact same as before. The new system, we want to allow people the ability to make their own plugins to do things like that, so they can get the behaviors they want, and not rely on us not being able to cater to everyone.
So in a sense, we do want to try to have things setup in a way that works for everyone, as the alternative is to do things one way, and that limits the amount of people we can make happy, but things would be much simpler. I don't think Buddybots can grow if we took that approach though, so we'll be trying something different now.
