Headsets & Surround Sound Systems

Hey guys - in a month or 2 I'll be looking into getting another headset and another surround sound system

atm I have the wow headset and the z5300 surround sound

I bought the razer tiamat 7.1 ... which is great for gaming (bf3 on pc, etc) - but not that great for listening to music. It had some thump, but it was meh. My $20 pair of earbuds were just as good (for the most part) for listening to music. But if you play games or watch hi-def movies w/ your comp - they're great. So, I sold them to my housemate for the same amount that I bought them for (he plays BF3 and other fps type games)

So anyways, I need a really good pair of headphones (it would be nice if it was a headset too so that I can use it as a 2-in-1, but if not - not too big of an issue). The headset will be when i'm not at home, or I need to be quiet at home

now the surround sound... I blare the music all day long when i'm home and I need a good quality system that I has very good thump, but also hooks up to the 2.1/5.1/7.1 into the computer (3.5mm jacks). I know I can get the audio cables to 3.5mm jack plugs, but generally those are made for receivers / amps and I don't want all of that crap laying around (hence why I have had my z5300 for 5 years - 2.1 / 5.1)

Please give links and personal reviews (if possible) - with the estimated price.

Headphones / Headset - a couple hundred usd
sub system - 500 usd or so

I've asked in the dev channel... and me and Apoc are both lookin for really good quality headsets. Aevitas recommends the Triton AX 720 headset and pillar speakers (I don't mind pillars as long as they have a nice sub w/ them - and sound great)

Anyways, let me know!

I was thinking of one of the astro headsets ... and a z906 logitech surround sound system

Logitech Z5500 Digital PC Multimedia Home Theatre Speaker System - 505 Watt (Total): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories Quote from my dad when he first saw it "Looks like a car engine" made me laugh.

After going through a few items in my orders and seeing they have tripled in price (jewellery) I found my surround sound that I still use today for over 3 years, cost me ?240~ but can only find for ?400 according to the InvisibleHand addon I have installed.

It's great and works very well, I wouldn't replace it for a few more years minimum so 9/10 from me.

For headsets I would go for;

Plantronics (great noise suppression, so good for porn) or Sennheiser (what I currently use for gaming).

I'm top in almost every round in Battlefield 3, but only recently have they put in the sound where you can hear someone coming from behind you (took them long enough..).

When you get the right setup then you'll be branded as a cheater ;). Good Luck

But if it was me and I had a job and a House then I'd spend about ?1000~ for a surround sound system, because if you do your research you really will get what you pay for.

Well I hoped you get your answers from people who realy use such sound systems, i use the integratedsound system of my notebook

I think you have tested this also but if not perhaps you could save a lot of money. My notebook has software for the audio devide and maybe you have something else on your pc. It's good for gaming and online calls but not for music or video. Have you ever testet your playback with other sound systems or with disabling this software (if you have something like this)

My screenshot is only for demonstration what I mean. I'm sure you have something like this but maybe from logictec, creative or something like this

1101011 - The music was still pretty good, but it just didn't have that 'omg' experience like the video games do (or even my ear buds) - which is what a lot of ppl complained about w/ the 7.1 headset (in regards to 2.1 / 2.2 music)
