HB and Patch 6.2 downtime

I wanted to get in ahead of the Noah-like flood of topics that will eventually come in. I don't mean to start any riots, I only want to ask a question. I don't expect a laser-accurate answer.

When Patch 6.2 goes live, no doubt HB will require downtime to adapt to the new changes. I know you guys start work the instant any new content is up. Roughly how long would this downtime take?

I also ask because I use HB primarily to automate my rotation. Blood DK is a bit difficult without it (even Gnomesequencer can't compare).

I'm expecting a few hickups for the HB team for 6.2 with some new and improved antibotting procedures being introduced, with a focus on gold making and trading.

WHY ?

because we can now pay for a play time with gold.. = Blizzard not making money from us..

Whilst blizzard wont go out in public and say this- They need us botters- We make up for a large number of the subs (money in there pocket)..

I suspect a HUGE focus on GOLD making for 6.2... And any bots making a lot of it to be hit hard by blizzard..

personally I would be paying my subs with cash for this month and perhaps the next month and keep under the radar....

Remember blizzard wants cash that all they care about... They don't give a fuk if its from a bot or a player- There are now only 2 reasons blizzard do anything about bots.

1. Public PR- they need to be seen to care- because it will effect the "real" player subs - money in their pocket.

2. Bots making gold to pay for playtime- This now affects money in their pocket.

My thoughts for 6.2- Please don't tell me im wrong- because its "MY" thoughts- that's all and take it as that.

Yea sure YOU can buy the 30 day sub with gold but SOMEONE ELSE just bought that with real money for MORE than the $15 dollars of the standard monthly sub. They are actually making more money with the implementation of the tokens.

with that effort made, bots pile up the majority of the auctionhouse where the rest of the legit
players ( read lazy fcks ) can buy their stuff.

without the bots this game would be so dead. no one likes to farm anything.

they just want a quick fix on the ah, and both selling tokens for real players and buying tokens
for the bots, catered in this.

Dont beleive everything people say.... Getting banned by buying WoW Tokens is bullcrap. Half my guild has just paid 6 months of game time with gold and why would blizzard ban you for using something they intended. Just sounds stupid to me. They make more cash off all the people buying WoW Tokens for $20 then losing it to a % who paid with Gold. If you went crazy and paid 5 years worth with gold, yes they may look at you.

This is a awesome feature Gold for Gametime other games been using it for years. If you are scared of using a feature that blizzard added for us then dont use it. I would rather buy all my gametime from blizzard with gold instead of having to risk selling my gold then buying game time with that sold money that can get traced back to my accounts.

Actually botters make Blizzard more money, because botters raise the gold price of tokens, and if tokens sell for a higher value, people are more inclined to purchase them for 20 dollars. Blizzard makes more money from players who buy tokens with gold (because it cost someone else 20 dollars) than it would have if we (the botters) had just paid 15 dollars for our subs. If anything, botting adds more money to into the system, and drives the gold price of the tokens up. When tokens sell for more gold, more people will buy them with real money, so that they can get more gold in exchange.

That seems to be a widespread misconception regarding the recently introduced gametime token:
You're not purchasing gametime for gold,but rather a token which can be redeemd for gametime,and the token itself can ONLY be purchased for IRL money.
This means that evey person that buys gametime/token for gold,someone must first have purchased it for IRL money,and since the token proportionally costs more than 30 days of gametime that you would buy as a subscribtion and directly apply to your account then Blizzard is actually GAINING money (about 30%-35% more per day of gametime sold as a token) through this system.

What easier way to flush out gold farming bots than to put free bird seed game time under a GM-suspended ban anvil?

It's a classic Bait & Switch.
All they have to do is set an automated flag for buying tokens and manually check for a program when you appeal the ban.

Please tell me thats Sarcasm lol People are also forgetting people who have jobs and work will pay $20 for 40k gold, so they dont have to farm in game or buy from a 3rd party chinese person and risk their account getting banned.

Blizzard has really hit the nail on the head for this one.

Blizzard bans players for having/making too much gold all the time.
Accidental & wrongful bans will be removed upon appeal.
Look in the ban section for appeals that have been noted as "upon manual inspection" where GMs have double checked, decided they were a bot, and refused to reverse the ban.

I remember when it was considered a crazy conspiracy theory to think that the US government spied on its citizens en-mass. The tinfoil hat people had that one right in the end. There will likely be another mass ban for botting in the near future though, if for nothing more than to stabilize the number of tokens in the AH. I do think that the token system was aimed more at removing gold sellers from the equation though.
