Having single versus aoe problems - how to fix?

My bot uses single target skills far too much, to the point I had to put melee splash on them etc. It uses the AOE some, but does not seem to separate the two appropriately. I tried again yesterday to gem my single target for actual single target and the result was a lot of dying. What settings can I tweak? Thx

For me it`s other way around
Use oro combat routine or better use a single skill that`s good for aoe and single
