I always start any new broke bot off with fishing. I fish until my inventory is full of deviate fish, and I sell them for 6-8g/each on the AH. This gives you some gold to dump into your profession. While you are selling your many stacks of fish, you should be leveling a gathering profession either mining or herbing. Decide if you want to do JC or Inscription first, and pick the gathering profession to match it. This way, you can level that second profession for nothing while you make money from your stockpile of fish. Once you max your gathering profession, start leveling your next profession. If you want to make gold while leveling your second profession, and can't see yourself being able to afford to level enchanting, go for herbing and inscription. Basically every glyph I made while leveling inscription sold on the AH.
If pet farming sounds good to you, I recommend the whelplings. I've gotten 6 dark whelps and 1 tiny crimson my last two 4 hour farming sessions. I move to other spots for different pets but they never drop.. I go back to wetlands, and they drop like candy. I sell the dark whelplings 2.5-3.5k each, and I sell the tiny crimsons 16-19k each.
The shuffle has~ lost most of it's value, but check wowuction.com for more information on that for your server, and know that most servers still offer a small profit. If you buy/JC/DE/sell all day long, you are able to make a solid 5-10k doing it. Pet's might offer you more then this, but you could farm pets for 5 hours and get nothing so... it's all a gamble in the end.
