Hello Buddy users :) I am a retired gold farmer with 5 years experience and have made quite a few profiles for myself to automate as much work as possible. I operated over 100 wow accounts at one point in time and constantly battled bans. But I did my best to learn the causes and test theories which has enabled many of my accounts to run over 1 year 247 doing things that get the normal user banned in less then a week such as gathering mats, grinding and searching ah for deals. Some of my profiles are very complex and took months to perfect, constantly working around any bugs that get in the way. You can google JCF777 and find out how successful I was as a gold seller ;)

So there are 2 kinds of detection that will get you banned.. 1. Bot detection which result in massive banwaves and 2. Behaviour detection which usually results in single account bans. There is nothing you can do about bot detection, that is totally up to the buddy team, but you can do something about your behavior! Some bad behavior would be..
  • Running the same character for 24 hours with no breaks (a break would be closing wow completely for at least 10 minutes so that you fully disconnect from the server).
  • Repeatitive behavior (Getting stuck for too long, using the same cordinates, spaming etc)
I found that alternating atleast 2 characters every 3-5 hours with 10-20 minute breaks was safest. I used the automatic relogger HBRelog to kill wow and relog a new character, you can also make the duration random.
To combat the repetitive behavior that comes with botting, a disconnector is critical! But thanks to PB you can make your behavior more random :) For example.. In my gathering profiles I had a nice program to create random maps, I combined 5 maps to make 1 massive map, then created 100 of those for each zone and made it so that only 1 can be used per week. So thus creating an undetectable behavior that allowed me to herb or mine 247 for over 1 year straight without a ban!

I have added some tweaks to logmeout and a couple others that you can find in my svn https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/jcf777/

LogMeOut- Added HBRelog option added

I also made it skip loot instead of disconnecting and
it wont disconnect if the AH is open.

LootPro originally helped with looting, but it does alot more.
  • Targets a player if he targets you (it only does this at appropriate times)
  • Detects stucks in combat and will try to skip the mob.
  • Helps with other misc bugs that occur during combat.

NoMoveDetector will exit wow or pause HBRelog if one of the triggers are met.
  • If a stuck is detected it will try dismounting
  • If your gathering mats and get stuck it will skip the node
  • It will detect if HB fails to run back to your body

To setup HBRelog faster you can use my settings file.. Creating the task list with the random logon times was most time consuming thats why I started doing this. Simply use REPLACE ALL in notepad for the following..
  • RealmName
  • PCNAME
  • Char-T (Represents the Tailor I used)
  • Char-LW (Represents the Leatherworker I used)
  • And of course the URL to the profile you want to use.
Place the "setting" file in C:\Users\PCNAME\AppData\Roaming\HighVoltz\HBRelog

Heres a look at how I made undetectable maps for mining and herbalism.

JCF777 thanks for sharing these, and really looking forward on your map building method.

By "maps" do you mean different profiles? So 5 profiles combined to make 1 big profile? Also when you say alternate 2 characters every 3-5 hours with 10-20 min breaks, does that mean start 1 character, go 3-5 hours then stop for 10-20 mins then start up the other character and repeat?

JCF777: Some follow-up questions if I may

- On average how many of those 100's of bots got banned with randomisation in place? (ballpark)

- Am I correct in asserting that you over time spent a lot of your time masking bot behaviours by adding in more "human" imperfection elements? and that in turn reduced your ban risk? (not removed, but reduced).

- On average what type of hours where you fluctuating with .. i suspect that a normal human being couldn't for example play WoW 7 days a week with breaks without it being considered "suspicious" ..as my theory is that Blizzard conduct iterative reporting waves, first pass is cross-refence login times, second pass is assess kill/death ratios + levels, third pass xyz co-ords overlaps or frequency (humans would rarely travel the same pathways), fourth pass cross-reference pathways user takes with known "bot routes", fith pass aggregate previous passes alongside player related reports...then isolate, monitor and likely issue ban(s).

I'm not entirely convinced that Blizzard broadcast bot-client detection "extras" outside their normal memory checks and accessing existing processes inside products like Windows often can get an unfavourable wrath from Microsoft if found to be true (the Microsoft Security team are often twitchy about what partner OEM/ISV's have access to and why - poisons the well so to speak).

Great post by the way and thank you so much for sharing your experience with us all. I appreciate it.
