I saw it was being used to prevent the Watchover Tyrant from being used in Overwatch. Could that have been a trial to be used on a bigger scale for other Blizz products?

noone knows....but it will have to be installed before it goes live so we will find out in due time.

I think it's a different program from wardon. because they need to detect different kind of program
