Is gatherbuddy still a good method to make a nice profit or are there better things to do? I'm not that familiar with garrisons because I mainly didn't play wod.

depends on what type of botting your doing
if you want to do suicide or risky botting farming dungeons or my favourites firelands trash farm and felblight farming are you money makers.
if you don't want to bot risky then I guess garrisons be the next best thing.

not really... Herbs and ore are too easy to acquire now.
