Getting started with Plugin creation.

Hi. I'm a long time user and have decided to begin writing my own plugins and profiles. I know the basics of profile creation, but am lost when it comes to designing a full plugin.

I've searched and searched for a starter's guide for Honorbuddy plugin creation, but found nothing.

Anyone know of something I can read up and follow? Or will general programming knowledge cover what I need to do?
