Getting an account recovered from original WoW?

A looooong while back when WoW was still vanilla, I grinded a warrior to Rank 14 with a friend, and ended up selling the toon for a good $1400 on eBay.

I was recently thinking how cool it would be to have the character again with the old school title (I sold it before the titles were no longer earnable). I am just curious what the best way to go about this is, if anyone has tried before?

I know the account is now locked, the second owner probably tried selling it, but could I just claim that I quit 4 years ago, and now I can't log in. All the information has probably been changed on the account as well, but I'm sure Blizz keeps track of it all. What do you guys think? How should I go about it or do I even have a shot?
 
do you have the original key? if so, great!

if not, just tell them you were interested in cata, and your old account you cannot log into.
 
I think you have a pretty good chance of getting it back.

You can tell them some sort of lie of why you quit. But now you want to play again with the new cata expansion.

They will most likely give it back to you. I have had account's which were banned in bc and I just sent in a appeal that I haven't play in bla bla bla years and said that I would like to play again and it won't let me on. They usually just slap you with a account sharing warning or something so it makes them look like they aren't just doing nothing.
 
go to blizz site and fill out the recovery form. it'll ask you the original accounts name ( before emails were used) and your address, ID . scan it to your computer and send in to blizz, you will then hear something within the next 2-3 days. also make a new bnet account for it unless you want it to merge with a existing

this is the form Old Form

not 100% sure if blizz still uses the above form. last time i used it was back in august of 10

Yea i recently sent a little message to blizzard about not being able to merge my world of warcraft account (no account detail included). So after about 2 replies from them I went and filled out one of those little email messages, or whatever they are called. And now I have got a "Fake" email from what they are claiming to be blizzard. This isnt the first time I have had to recover my account. So they are now asking for alot of personal info in this one. And now I need some help on figuring out if its legit. Even though it probaly isnt.
 
blizz will never ask for personal info over a email.... so don't send it.. do what i said above
 
I had an interesting little conversation with a GM on the phone today.

I was trying to get an account unbanned that was banned in 2008. I told him i quit in 2007(Wasnt sure of the exact date) and just had bought wrath and cata because some friends got me to start up again (playing stupid, so i could be like WTF its banned?!?!?!)

to make a long story short, he told me that if my account was comprimised, and someone had been paying for it up until now, blizzard would see that account as the hackers rather than my own as for he has paid more money in to it. I was really suprised to hear that. (so if you sold it that long ago, and someones been paying for it up until recent, i guess they wont give it back)

I had attached the account to a bnet when it first came out, trying to get it back. (they will not give this account back at all, iv tried a few times)

When I log in to it now, my account name is no longer there, but there is a "wow1" that is upgraded to BC, with no previous time in the account history... very weird.
 
Wasnt it possible if you lost your CDkey that you could email original ID scanned back to them?
 
In EU all you need is the EU(Germany) WOW - Classic Key and a Valid Personal ID and the Account must have to be under your Name I did it last Year with a sold Account were the Buyer started to harrass me after we did the Transaction.

I waited 3-4 Month he even bought Woltk and moved the 2 Chars to differnd servers then I recoverd it

i sold some accounts, and about 6 months later i got some emails stating they needed me to get blizz to unban or they'll file a paypal complaint... i so laughed and told'em to you know what. so i went ahead anyhow knowing all the accounts i sold were banned and got blizz to unban but i kept them :-)

Paypal wouldn't care & you sold accts to people who didn't get the full info from you? Wow you're super lucky.
 
no they had all info, maybe they lost it. i don't know. the only reason i took back was from them threatening me.
