Gathering using mage

OK, so this is probably another rookie dumb dumb question, but...

I use a level 83 mage as my farmer. I specd frost for survivability, BUT it seems GB doesn't play my mage very well. It pretty much spams frostbolt. No IV, MI, IL, anything. Just, freeze em and frostbolt.

I am pretty much a bot virgin, but is there any thing I can do to help this?

Its a CC issue.
Get the amplify CC and configurate it.

GB or GB2?

If it's GB, your macro is wrong, if it's GB2 then ya, it's a CC issue

And I actually have miner mage too.
Frost + amplify CC = Works well for me.

I used to bot a mage in icc and I found the best thing to do was use set a macro to call your water elemental. You generally wont be getting into combat every node so it usually works out ok. Otherwise just use gb2.
