Game Updates

Has anyone else found it rather bothersome that you have to have an active SQEX just to update the game?
Not being able to login to the servers means you can't update. Pretty high in security measures don't you think?
It seems like they're scared of the game being data mined prior to them making public release notes or something...

FFXI was that way too.. Really saves on bandwidth imo.. why allow someone to download patches from SE servers when they have no active account? ..I doubt its from possibility of data mining.

Pretty sure it is a security matter. Frankly no one wants to use up their paid time to download a game instead of playing.
