Hi All,

This is not directly aimed at IB but does take into consideration the issues arisen from the events there. I personally think it's about time forum logons were linked in some way to the bot logon information. The only way to access the forumns is to have paid for the bot, perhaps a limited forumn for the trial accounts.

Introduce new Terms of use and impose some form of infraction system so that if you post of the rubbish as we've seen recently not only do you lose some forum abilities it actually impacts on your botting experience.

For example, shout your mouth of needlessly receiving a forum mute, and your bot auto cut's out every 3 hours for the period of the mute and so on escalating to the point access to both is withdrawn.

I understand such a system maybe complicated and even expensive to set up but I would hope with the levelof popularity HB has there are funds available and I personally think it'll be money well spent.

I would hope every genuine HB'er would agree to something similar if not this exact suggestion... and more importantly if ineacted I think it might make the life's of all the admin's and dev's far more enjoyable.

::EDIT - apologies to the mods//devs etc. if this post too falls into the muck as some other's ahve or indeed if you're against this sort of post, please feel free to lock/delete etc::

We would never cut off your account from botting completely, unless you're doing something really messed up. (Like giving out cracked versions, etc)

A forum mute is not grounds to take away your paid product.

To bad this forum is s feeding frenzy for trolls :). But i agree on some terms of you. But i really don't think it would be possible, or the dev's even would make that.

The only problem with all "free" software publishing is that nobody is really interested in helping or giving constructive output to it - because: its free!

If it costs 1, 2, 3, 4 $ / month -> the useres are interested, engaged etc... Thats not a HB-Community problem. Thats everywhere out there :-D

P.s.: y??y, my 400th post xD

I didn't mean to remove it completely, but a mechanism that affects the product in such a way as to stop you being an idiot. if not timed DC's perhaps increasing the time between mob pulls (still enable the bot to defend itself) in escalation so that use remains but is hampered, by your forum stupidity. I don't think it'd take too long for people to start behaving as they should tbh.

I think its in poor taste that someone punishes all the helpful users because one or two users were too stupid to use a bug tracker. Why take out your frustrations on people that did nothing to you. I also think its in poor taste to "release a plugin" thats going to be a paid plugin, then take it away every time someone makes you angry. Its becoming a pattern. If its allowed to continue like this its going to start driving users off. You need to make simple rules, and disallow anyone from removing or editing their own posts. As there are a few more moderators it would be easy of enough to find one to have something removed if you really need to. I also think there needs to be a rule that a plugin or cc or anything shouldn't be locked to having to contact an outside server. This is a poor choice in letting this happen in the first place. As its not even a staff member doing it.

On another note I haven't been able to get a official response on this. Raphus claimed in the IRC channel today that bossland has been giving him peoples login names to bot so that he can ban them from using his plugin. There were several people extremely un happy about this including me. Raphus is not staff, and has no right to know what my bot login name is. Besides the fact that he has no right to this information as not being staff, a lot of users, user crappy passwords with the same login everywhere. If this is actually being done I ask that it stop immediately.

If your going to release something to the public you have no right to ban users from using something just because they annoyed you. Ignore them, either by not responding or by using the ignore button on their profile so you never have to see them again. They paid for the same access to this forum as everyone else. Either release it, or don't. You don't have the right to say who uses it and who doesn't once you've made it publicly available. People annoy me every day coming in my thread and saying this doesn't work your CC sucks, and you ought to see how big my ignore list is. I don't put code in so they can't use it.

All files, servers, and code, should be hosted by the Honorbuddy servers from now on. If your going to have users turning their product on and off every day because they get in a bad mood your just going to wind up with more pissed off people, more people charging back, and more people having to be muted all the time.

wtf? I hope thats not true!

Giving names away to ban them because of hard discussions or stupid users?? Which time is it? 2010? ... doesn?t matter who those names are... thats a no go!

[12:13pm] <%raphus> Bossland himself provides me shop usernames so i can ban them lol

He not only bragged about it, he laughed about it. In front of 32 people other than himself and me at the time.

Here's the code for it which he also arrogantly posted in IRC:

Code:
if (Banned != null && Banned.Contains(StyxSettings.Instance.Username.ToLower()))
{
throw new HonorbuddyUnableToStartException("You are banned from using Instancebuddy. kkthnxbye");
}

Just the fact that he's taking the time to code usernames into his plugin and banning people from using it makes me wonder whats in the releases he releases that aren't checked by staff, as he links compiled versions directly to people on IRC. I thought there was supposed to be more controls on DLL's than there were in the past is why they were being brought back. Maybe locking the DLL usage in the bot to a certain hash of the file or something so it can't be arbitrarily updated without staff knowing.

Bragging is one part... some ppl need this - giving several shop names is another! Hope Boss can refute this

If this is true, I request this to stop immediatly too. I don't want some emo-boy having my login stuff. Who knows what else he'll do with it whenever he gets in nerdrage-mode next time... .

I think that says a lot about Bossland himself too. Why in the hell would he give out user info to a non-staff member. Even staff members should have that kind of information.

Well, if it's only to ban some users for his plugin, i don't care. ^^

We should hear Bossland before someone blame him ^^

I cannot believe it ^^

I tried to ask Bossland myself but he's not been on MSN or at least invisible for days and his PM box was full. And if this isn't true this user should be dealt with, with a 10 day ban just like any other user regardless of what plugin or CC he makes.

I agree with linking our GB/HB logins to our forum accounts - this would prevent some of the trolling we see, and also allow devs to block trolls/idiots from posting on their threads, and from using their plugins/cc's.

As far as the Dev's allowing Raphus access to GB/HB user names (not passwords, and yes, we all know you can brute force a password), I don't necessarily consider that to be a bad thing - something everyone needs to consider is that Raphus has created something beyond a plugin, and while I am speculating here, it is entirely possible that the Dev's may be considering adding him to the team, just for instance buddy. (Not to mention Isis, which is one of the finest CC's I have used).

I personally have no problem with allowing Raphus to either ban or auth my HB login based on my trolling his work, or reporting a bug in a thread, instead of the bug tracker.

While I think Raphus may have perhaps taken a path of action that I might not have, I can understand his frustration - he is developing this software on his own, being compensated only with donations, and instead of good feedback, he gets complaints without any of the information needed to identify and fix them. Frankly I am suprised it took this long for him to blow up.
