I would like to help out any of the mods here to better organize this Forum. It is very messy and hard to find certain profiles. I would like to start with all the Gatherbuddy2 Profiles make seperate Profession Threads and a thread for mining/herbing..etc. It will be better organized and easier to update and find the Profiles everyone is looking for. I posted a thread awhile back but I am unable to find it.

This is something that should be put on a high priorty. Im not trying to be a dick or make fun of HB2. I really like and enjoy using HB2. I want to do my part and help others get what they want and need.

If you agree with what I said or not, please leave your feedback. Would love to hear everyones response.

Thanks for your time.

Making a bigger forum-tree doesn't make for a better organization.

I have never had any trouble finding what I'm looking for. If you use the Search function well you'll easily find it. It does require a little bit of work though.

If you're looking for a thread you yourself started then go to your profile and select the option "threads this user started".
Then there's also the "bookmark" function, the "alert" function and lots of other neat stuff to help you find or retrieve what you're looking for.

It will be much easier to find like say for example Gatherbuddy2 Mining profiles in a thread under GB2 >> Mining instead of having all mixed up in one thread.

It will most certainly help for sure.

I am sorry to say the search field does not help as good as it should. It brings up posts that has no relevance to what I am searching for. Unless people tag properly.

It would be even easier to find something if there were a GB2 >> Alliance >> Mining >> Copper >> Twilight Highlands >> Flying mount forum.
It would be a problem, though, to have 1000 different subforums spread all over the place and have moderators enforce placing posts in the correct subforum. It'd be hell to maintain, especially once BW comes out and needs a complete set of all those forums as well.

I don't think it needs to go that deep but it should have more subcategories such as Gatherbuddy 2 section should look like this

(subcategory) Mining
(subcategory) Herbing
(subcategory) Skinning
(subcategory) Fishing
(subcategory) etc...

I'm sure the other sections could be cleaned up as well. Sometimes people don't spell things correctly and when you do a search it doesn't come up.

look, we know it needs to happen, but we can just make changes all wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, we already have some ideas for what needs to be changed and how to do it, while i understand everyone's concern all you really need to know is its on the to do list, and will happen, but there are other things on the burner before this that need to be done.

Indeed, I suggest the following structure for GB2 gathering profiles. Gathering is the biggest source of profit for everyone, and could deserve special attention to help keep profiles organised. IMHO it is one of the most important modules of HB.

GB2 > Outland > (here I put adamantite, fel iron, and Primal Might profiles)
GB2 > Classic > (here I put copper, tin, iron, mithril, thorium profiles)
GB2 > WOTLK > (here I put cobalt, saronite profiles)
GB2 > Cata > Uldum
GB2 > Cata > Hyjal
GB2 > Cata > Deepholme
GB2 > Cata > Twilight
GB2 > Cata > Vashj'ir

Honestly, we should be encouraging people to make their own profiles rather than using public ones and raising their risk to be banned.
I'm not saying that we should delete public profiles or anything, but dedicate more forum space to the benefits of making your own profiles for the extra safety.

Back when I started botting I LOVED Zuabros' and Bengan's profiles, to name a few, but the day I came to my computer and saw a train of 5 bots running w00t's Twilight Highlands one I realized how risky it was.

My 2c.

a profile that is optimized for the shortest route can be done by routes (wowaddon) and mapgen, hb related tool.
So many people might come up with the same route and we get trains as well^^

for those that are not insane farmers, using a pre-made profile may be a good thing. The routes are already optimized, there is mailbox, repair....

Yet, I make my profiles for myself to farm, and after they are done, I like to share them with people so that all can have the same joy of me.

Yet risk is not SO big as people imagine... I use my own popular profiles to farm.. :)

That's right, that's why I don't use those tools and make my profiles the "manual" way with Zaprecorder.

I purposely take less optimized routes and go to places where the most popular profiles don't take you.
Sure, I miss out on a few nodes per hour, but I don't have to worry about being on top of 5 other people (I play on one of the highest pop servers in the US).

Those people I was flying on top of that time I mentioned in my previous post are no longer there (their toons aren't, at least), but mine are.

To each their own :).

just make your own profiles ... there are a lot of guides in the guides section

or

use the search function

What this forum needs most of all is a better search engine and more aggressive removal of old, outdated, inapplicable stuff, so it won't get in the way of the search engine and confuse people.

Right now, it's a nightmare. Most stuff is fine already, but there are a few things that are an absolute must for a community this size.

1. Sticky threads with viable, tested, up to date guides on relevant subjects, like Installation of Plugins, Profiles and CC's, leveling, RAF multibotting, PVP, gathering and possibly crafting. Things are already supposed to work in a certain way for the most part, so forcing everyone to blind guess and discover the hot water by themselves over and over again by trial and error is not needed. Most of us are end-users who just want to RTFM and be done with it.

2. Better Search. Really, the state of the current Search engine is beyond contempt.

3. Archival of old stuff in separate forums, not included in the default Search, so people will not get confused and try guides which rely on stuff, which has already been patched, changed or removed from the game. Abandoned CC's, plugins and profiles should go to their own "Abandoned" forum, so end-users who just want to grab something that works will not get confused, use them and complain the bot crashes or "does nothing".

All of this can take no more than a day to make, except for #2, but with #1 and #3 in place, the search engine won't be such a terrible mess anyway and can wait.

Love your Doctor Who analogy :D

Good to know this and see that is on the "To Do" List. It doesn't have to be intricate sub forums on every single topic, just easier to find and navigate profiles and such. If it gets too tedius im sure a few people wouldn't mind stepping up to the plate and help out with moderation. It will help better everyones involvement with HB2 and any other bots in the future.

Glad to hear its gonna happen..

its a bigger project than most realize i think. I'd rather have the devs work on new updates for HB itself.

The search function could use some work IMO, but i can usually find what im looking for.

How hard can it be? Go through the forum and move the thread to the proper place, or even start from scratch and post the really good profiles everyone uses. And sticky guidelines on posting new profiles..etc

Its honestly not that hard as everything thinks. Its time consuming yes, but that is what happens when a forum isn't structured and organized good. For the most part, it works! We just need to make it better!

its not hard to find what i need,i use my brains (dont have real that much) the first time it was sometimes hard but i am now everyday ad this forums.

if everyone stepped up, and reported spam when they see it, or help out when they see people with common issues, it would be really nice.

i think everyone for the most part has gotten their two cents in, im locking the thread now, perhaps if we need input in the future we will open a new thread to get more opinions.
Thx.
