This is my first profile, it's attempting to farm Fear-Touched Moths in Dread Wastes.

Fear-Touched Moth - NPC - World of Warcraft

I used the plugin HotspotRecorder to gather my hotspots. I circled the area that where I know the moths are back and forth making sweeps as I went.

Not sure why but no matter how many times I regenerate hotspots, my character looks very "botty" when it runs this. It will run one way for like 1 yard than go back the other way, and repeat for atleast a dozen times. But than it continues on.

I've tried regenerating hotspots several times can't figure out what I did wrong. Any criticism appreciated.

Hi, Spoonfednonsense (*love* the name!),

I'm not familiar with the area, but it looks like you've too many hotspots (i.e., they're too close together). Try reducing the count to 10-15 total hotspots. This is usually sufficient for even large areas.

You can just comment them out with "<!-- <Hotspot...> -->" rather than delete them.

Holler back if it doesn't work.

cheers,

Great advice thanks, reduced the number of hot spots and the botty aspect of the path stopped.

It really has trouble pulling mobs from mid air. I've tried on both a shadowstep rogue and my mage. Is there a command code to let it know that the target mobs are flying mid air?

Edit: I've tried to fly high up when capturing hot-spots but for some reason it wants to mount up and fly really close to the ground which than never pulls any mobs.

Now that I subtracted some hotspots it takes an ginormous amount of time to go from one to the next, will keep tinkering to see what the balance is.
