File Authorization Question

Im not sure where this would go in these forums but since I know honorbuddy does this, as do all bots pretty much. How do they make it so only if you paid for it you can use it. Like, lets say I had a file, just one file, can i put a time limit on it, or have it authorized through the internet? Ive always wondered this. GB/HB use an online authorization server that checks your username/pass against their database.

I'm not understanding what you're doing - you basically want to make a self-destructing file? Something that's only good for a certain amount of time?

No, like something that only if I want my friends to use it they can use it. So they cant send it around and it getting leaked...

i use skydrive from microsoft, i can upload my files meshes ect and select who i want to share them with throu messenger and only those people have access to it.
