Hey everyone, i just got a free computer from my fathers company, and its not that great of a PC. And i need some advice on how to get some more bots going on this machine. (Specs below) Right now, i can barely run 2 wows and 2 GB's without getting a loss of memory error from WoW. Any advice? I did buy another 1GB of ram, and should be here tomorrow, but anything i can do to restrain WoW from using that much resources?

Computer Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz
nVidia Quadro NVS290
1GB of Ram (2x512MB Sticks)
Just reinstalled Windows XP
80GB HDD (Only WoW and GB Installed)

And it seems to have SERIOUS Lag spikes, that are a mystery to me.

Heres what it will be Tomorrow:
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz
nVidia GeForce 9800GT (With an underpowered PSU :P)
2GB of Ram (2x512MB, 1x1GB Stick)
Just reinstalled Windows XP
80GB HDD (Only WoW and GB Installed)

Another question is about the underpowered PSU, as it is only (from what i can read) 240Watts when the 9800GT needs 450. Will this damage the Graphics Card Signifiantly?

Thanks in Advance everyone.

it shouldn't damage it. I don't know why your computer is lagging. My second botting pc has similar specs its a amd athlon xp 3200+ with 1.5gbs of ram and a geforce 9600gt and it can run 2-3 fine. Try it with the 2gbs tomorrow and see how it goes considering 1gb is the absolute minimum to run wow.

I read using an underpowered PUS could damge it by making the PSU work harder because the Graphics demands more from it, making the PSU work harder, thus making it work hotter, and in short can make it fail faster.
But i am a bit eerie on that as dont they have fail safes for that so it doesn't damage itself? Or should i just go ahead and buy some $40 500W PSU?

It will cause it to run hotter, yes but you should be fine. Depending on your cooling system. If you want to make double sure though yeah, go ahead $40 isnt alot to make double sure.

Cooling System = Fan built in (1 for the CPU :P) And the occasional A/C that comes on, then at night there is a window next to it that is open all night. (During the day where i live its 85-90 degrees during the day, and around 60-65 during the night, so too hot to open the windows during the day.
Its not running HOT, but I am a little worried about it.

you forgot the heatsink that's built into the 9800 :P Anyway, if you're having doubts don't take my word for it. It's better to be safe than sorry. A $40 investment is better than losing a $110 card. But I think you should be safe with a 225.

Ok, thanks.
