Feedback about recent bans (HB staff)

I, like many others, have been following the ups and downs of gather botting since 5.3 release. I was one of the people caught up in the initial bans and lost a few accounts.

Shortly after, a lot of talk came about of LCP detection and randomization being the key to bypassing it. Gather Bro was legit and then shortly after GB 2 was updated with similar settings.

I'm pretty sure we all thought it was safe to bot again. For some reason or the other I haven't been gather botting this week and instead have been leveling other toons trying to bounce back from losing a few account in the previous weeks.

Coincidentally (or not?), this very same week, which also coincides with the summer Blizz sale, a shit ton of people have been getting hit. Gather Bro, GB 2, with no discrimination.

This is very alarming to me. Is it some sort of new detection in place? Or maybe all the player reports from previous weeks, in a well timed swift ban hammer wave to illicit more sales for this promotion of theirs?

I'm mainly wondering what some of the HB staff think. Thanks for reading.

Well, they did warn us before they released the updated bot for 5.3.
But it does not seem like randomness is the key tbh, i just think they upped their detection quite a bit.

Clearly, I'm not new to this. Thank you for telling me the obvious, what I'm more concerned with is this a passing storm or should I just stay inside and wrap up.

Clearly with knowing what's going on, any sane person isn't just gonna up and go gather bot right now.

They are being hard on RAF gametime, more to US... they are also being harder on botters but the current bans suggest things have been quieter than before, about the average you'd expect (2-5 a day approx).. also didn't read most of your post as you're using one-line paragraphs.

agreed to this, few weeks after I bought 4 battlechests my main got banned, thankfully I managed to get another old account which is even older.

I do not use gather bots, i just use the questing and purerotation bots so i am always in control or at least somewhat in control of the bot. I think most bans are caused by other players reporting them. I think most of the reporters go on more than one account to report so it is taken seriously. The gather bots have more of an impact to the game it seems since you can control the economy if you think about it which is what mostly blizzard seems to be concerned about.

I've been botting for long periods of time after they updated hb for 5.3.. I use bgbuddy and grind bot... No bans yet. It def has something to do with gatherbuddy because most of the ban reports are from using that...

Clearly with all these bans something isn't right. Sale is over and it's still happening left right and center.

I agree someone must know why the detection rate is so much higher.

most bans comes from grindbot bgbuddy or gatherbuddy with using public profile making self profiles would u get less riskier to get banned. but the bot it self isnt detected

we need solutions.
not the copy/paste stuff "botting is risky"

after my bans i reduced to 1 acc and i avoid MoP completely... running for ~ 2 weeks after a player report within 24hours.

honorbuddy needs some new ways and new ideas....
