fails to catch 3 time and cp drop to 0 then uses ultra ball?

as title says something like
[15:38:30] Trying to catch Pokemon Pidgey CP(60) IV(51) with Pokeball...
[15:38:31] Pokemon Pidgey escaped. Trying again.
[15:38:33] Trying to catch Pokemon Pidgey CP(60) IV(51) with Pokeball...
[15:38:34] Pokemon Pidgey escaped. Trying again.
[15:38:36] Trying to catch Pokemon Pidgey CP(0) IV(0) with Ultraball... successfully
anyone know why it does this or how this can be prevented?? thanks ^^
