"failed to get game data" but my old trainer name is still unavailable

So I'm getting the "failed to get game data from server" error and I've been getting it since monday, I'm pretty sure that I got perma-banned but I've seen others saying that their old trainer name was available again but mine isn't. Is there a chance I'll get access back to my account or are other perma-banned folks also finding that their trainer name is unavailable?

I do not think they will recycle your trainer names right away, as it will just *reward* those that botted as they bot their new account. Most games have a LONG holding time before release.

I had the same problem at the same time with my PTC account. I thought I had been perma banned but i have not received any email regarding a ban. Also, it will switch from Failed to get data to the servers are down screen.
Are they sending the email from the pokemon company/niantic or are the just banning people?
I am still not sure what is going on but no one seems to have any answer. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem on two accounts. But one thing is the same: One was botting and turned level 23, since then I got the message 'Failed to get data'. The other account I botted until level 21 and then I just played. Evolved a lot of pokemon to reach level 23. And boom! Same thing happened. I couldn't login anymore! 'Failed to get data'. I'm I banned or what is this?!? Can someone help me?

This is the same issue I'm having, it's been going for over a week now and Niantic wont reply to my support ticket about it, I'm just guessing it's a ban and something messed up and didn't trigger them sending the email with it.

Dude! It's a perm ban!

Start a new account and try again. This time, don't bot until they fix it.
